Which would be a better choice POR waterview or POFQ standard view? It will just be my hubby and I for 4 nights in Nov... Have never stayed at either resort. Really confused right now and am in need of some expert advise!!!

My "husband" and I will be honeymooning at POR and we are soo thrilled. I've researched and researched and found all the photo's and reviews of POR to be better that POFQ. Check out tripadvisor.com if you haven't, they have great pics!! We requested one of the Mansions because they are quieter and located right on the river. We are thrilled!!!!! Hope this helps!

I stayed at POR and I loved it. I only saw FQ from the bus and boat but POR it seems there is so much more to do. Boatwright's restaurant is there. The food court is really good. I highly recommend Riverside.

Personally I wouldn't pay for a waterview room at the POR or POFQ. You don't have a balcony/patio to sit on and view the water...as they are outside corridors and you have to look past the walkway in front of the room and across the rail area, etc. to see the water. Just not worth the extra money for us. As far as the difference between the two -- we've stayed at both. Our preference is POFQ. It is much smaller and easier to navigate. It is the first stop on and first stop off for the WDW transportation and doesn't typically "feel" as crowded as POR can feel during busy times. That said, the food court at POR is better than POFQ and you rent bikes, boats, etc. at POR. Both have the boat to DTD which is a nice transportation option. If you request bldg. 5 at POFQ .. the standard room has a nice view of the courtyard area. I'm sure the other buildings do also, but that one I know for sure.

I've been to both and would absolutely choose POFQ. The most remote room at POFQ is still very close to bus stop and food court. I found POR to be too spread out. They are "sister" resorts so you are free to use the facilities at either no matter where you stay.

I'd also never pay for a water view at a moderate resort as previously mentioned. There is just no way to really enjoy the view with no balcony.

That said POR is a resort with a more deluxe feel to it. Better food court, better pool for adults with 5 other "quiet" pools, and amazing grounds.

Enjoy!

I also agree. we had waterview and it was a waste. We were never in the room except to sleep, we had a ground floor and tall bushes and plants in front of window so we could not see the river. I would get standard and I would be happy now. I am hardly ever in the room so that does not matter to me now.

we had a standard view this past july and loved it. we were fortunate to have a corner room, building 1, so if i looked out one window i saw the parking lot ad the other window we saw the canal. so we kept the one window closed.

this resort is so well layed out and quaint that it really will ony take a few minutes to be by the water . the money you save with a standard view can be used to get a magarita by the pool. much more enjoyable then any view!!

I had one of those margaritas at "Muddy Rivers". MMMMM it was tasty. Nasty thunderstorm hit then, so I had to try the Southern Hurricane. MMMM.

We've stayed at both many times. They're within easy walking distance. We enjoy the food courts, pool bars, and shops at both. We don't particularly like the table-service at POR (but we lean more towards vegetarian or fish type foods). We like the lounge at POFQ better (much smaller though).

Given that they're so close together -- I'd go with whichever one can give you the room you want -- ex: King bed, water view, whatever...

BTW: When are you going in November?

I am a vegetarian also! I like the idea of a smaller resort, but there are no king or water views available. They do have water view available at POR. I am not sure exactly what that even means....I know at CBR it could be a glimpse of a pool or the lake. I would hate to book a standard room at POR and then be sooo far away. I am guessing that a standard room at POFQ would not be so bad, due to it being so small. I think I 'd like the themeing better at POFQ than POR.

It means the same thing at POR/POFQ, except instead of the lake, your 'water view' could be of the Sassagoula River. Or it could be of a pool, or a fountain, or a puddle...

Water view means your room should face some water. NOT a big deal since, as stated above, your room opens out onto a public walkway that allows access to all the rooms on your floor. Your choices are to open your curtains and stare out the window, open your door and do the same thing, drag your room chairs out onto the walkway, or just lean against the railing. Waste of money. With a standard view, if you want a water view, you can merely walk to a side of your building with that view and, well, lean against the railing :)

Booking a waterview room will NOT get you any closer to the foodcourt so wouldn't it be worse to spend the extra money on a water view room and then be sooo far away? If you don't want to be far away stick with POFQ. Last year we were upgraded to a water view room there in building #7-one of the most remote rooms yet it was closer to the food court than my room at POR last week and I was actually one of the closer buildings.

I would not recommend you pay extra for a waterview room at a moderate since all of the doors to the rooms open onto public walkways and there are no balconies to sit out on and enjoy the view. The upside to POFQ is that it is the first bus stop on the loop that will also make another four stops on the POR side of things so you will have a better chance of getting a seat getting on at the POFQ stop.

This will be our second year at the POR and we paid for the water view again. Last year we were put on the second floor (corner room) across from a quiet pool. It was wonderful. There really isn't alot of noise to be a bother and the view is really nice. What a convenience to be so close to a pool.

Standard at POFQ. It's smaller and more intimate. The hot tub is very secluded. ;) It has also Eliot Dyson performing at Scat Cat's. It's just seems more adult to me than POR. It seems more romantic to me too. You can take the carriage ride at POR, hopefully around Illuminations time. I know you can hear the music from the bus stop at POFQ. Oh, and it has its own bus stop at MK in the evening.
