okay, I've been reading just a ton of terrible things about POR on these boards. Is POFQ in the same boat, or are there positive differences? I'm leaving in less than 48 hours for POFQ. I could use a good review to perk me up!!

I've seen two people mention rooms not up to snuff..but not a ton. We've stayed there twice this year, and both times were wonderful. On the thread that talks about POR, most people had positive things to say. Of course I'm hoping more people stay away..makes it all that less crowded for the times when we go LOL! It's such a pretty resort.

Just back yesterday from POR w/a visit to POFQ. You will love staying at POFQ!

Like you, I also read many of the postings here and was concerned about room condition, cast member attitude, etc. I found no problems, at all. I would caution you to request a different room if you feel yours is not up to snuff after you've checked in. They should accomodate you.

Have a magical visit!

I stayed at the POFQ for a week last month, and it was fantastic. The resort is beautifully landscaped, and I love the compact size (I hate when I get stuck in a room that is a 10-15 minute walk to the food court, pool, etc at the other moderates). One of the problems I've had at many Disney hotels is the noise level (paper thin walls so that you hear your neigbors), and that has never been an issue at the Port Orleans. I've stayed there three times, and have always had a great stay. That cast members are super helpful and knowledgable.

In December, we stayed in room 4326, and our room was spotless when we arrived, and the housekeeper did a fantastic job throughout the trip. We had requested extra towels our first night, and the housekeeper continued to leave extra towels the rest of the trip. The beds were really comfortable, and the linens were fresh and clean.

The only thing I noticed about the POFQ was the railings in building four were in desperate need of a paint job. The paint was badly chipped. I was surprised they let it get that bad. But that is a minor thing.

Have a great trip.

I can't speak about POR but I can speak of POFQ - FABULOUS!!! It is by far our favorite moderate (and we have stayed at all except POR).

We have stayed at POR four times in the last three-and-a-half years (most recently last March), and unless there has been a recent nosedive, we thought the resort was wonderful. (That's why we kept going back! :earsboy: ) The grounds were beautiful, our room was clean and in good condition, and I do not remember any CMs that were anything but polite. We even had a lot of cute "towel creations" from housekeeping on a couple of trips. (We never knew what we would find our daughters' Pooh bear or her baby doll up to when we got back to the room! :D )

I'm a DVC owner now, and so we are spending more of our time at the Beach Club Villas, but if I need to stay a few nights on cash instead of points, I would not hesitate to return to POR.

Thanks everybody! That's what I needed! well, I'm back to my eleventh hour packing. just had to get my final DIS fix before we leave. Check out my trip report sometime later this month! My boyfriend and I don't see eye to eye on ANYTHING, so it'll be a fun read I promise! :)

We just stayed at PO-FQ in October and thought it was wonderful! The pool was in good shape, as were the grounds, and the food court is newly renovated. The rooms weren't in bad shape, but they haven't been newly renovated.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at PO-FQ, and would stay their instead of PO-R in the future. It is so much less spread out, the wait for busses seemed less, and you can always take the water taxi over to PO-R if you want to eat at the full service restaurant or rent water craft or bikes.

I'd like to echo what TLinden16 said, with one addendum- When we visited POFQ from 12/30 thru 1/3, the maintenance CM's were painting the railings daily.
The revamped food court was also a hit with our family. The CM's there have a much better attitude than the crew from our last visit in '99.
I can't wait to go back!

POFQ was closed down for a long time last year. I'm sure they got behind on touching up things like outside railings in favor of touching up things on the inside of rooms.

When I went last year in March, I stayed at POR (Alligator Bayou) and it was (as usual) very nice. I was sick one day and the mousekeepers were very understanding about just leaving my room alone. They asked if I needed anything (extra toilet paper, please) :( and were considerately quiet outside my door when they were cleaning the room next to me.

I had a corner room at POR-AB. I HIGHLY recommend trying to get one of these if you can. The two windows let in so much light that it was nice just laying in bed and looking out at the palm trees and happy people walking by. Well, as nice as it could be when you have the stomach flu. :(

Don't worry about some others not being happy with their room. It's all in the attitude! Even being sick, I loved where I was staying and would go there again in a heartbeat! :D

One thing to say... love it!

Don't forget to look for the bunnies outside Bldg 5 (side opposite from the pool)!

So happy to read these reviews! We're staying there for 2 nights in October and it will be our first time ever staying on-site!!:Pinkbounc
