My mom is going to WDW for the first time ever with me and my DS (4 yrs) this october for 4 nights. She likes southern themes and wondered if the POR would be magical for her, but have never stayed there. The coronado is my favorite mod. resort so far and am nervous about trying a new resort!

(I would love to stay at the Poly for the monorail, but am very doubtful that I will come up with the money so I am settling for a mod.), but still would love to wow her for the first time to disney!

We are just as nervous as you, but for the opposite reason.

We loved our stays at POR. The scenery is beautiful. The entire resort is wonderful. We especially liked the boat ride to DTD. The kids loved the main pool and I enjoyed the spa (almost every day) (although the spa, from what I gather, is considerably smaller than CSR's).

We opted for a change this next trip (to CSR), but are a bit apprehensive because we liked POR so much. I guess that we are just affraid of being 'let down' even just a little bit.

I hope you enjoy your trip.

You won't be disappointed. We've stayed at value, moderate, Deluxe and DVC resorts and POR is our favorite. We'll be back there in 3 weeks!:wizard:

We stayed POR (only resort we've ever stayed on site) - and weren't impressed. Don't get me wrong, we didn't have any major complaints - but the landscaping for me was so overgrown and not pretty at all.....but that is the theming. I didn't feel like I was staying in a resort.

I think you'll be much more impressed w/ CSR (just from pics online). The theming and the landscaping (I think) would be much prettier.

I love the POR!! We normally request a room in one of the Mansions - just a short walk from the food court area and it is also near a bus stop. CBR is my favorite moderate - but POR is 2nd!!

We also loved POR. We stayed in the alligator bayou section very close to the dining and south depot bus stop.My favorite thing was the boat ride downtown. My husband enjoyed watching the ducks by the river in the mornings. I thought the resort was beautiful. The mansion section looked like the old south from Gone with the wind.If you get up early in the morning and catch the sunrise you can get some pretty pictures by the mill and river. My husband has already said that when we go back with our grandson we will stay at POR again. I do not have the other resort to compare it it to, I just know I really like POR. Boatwrights has a very good breakfast menu.

Another vote for POR. My friend stayed at CSR once and didn't like it at all, we've stayed at POR 4 times now and love it. We use to request AB exclusively but last stay we couldn't get it and ended up in Magnolia Bend and loved it. Can't go wrong with POR in our opinion.

They are both nice but the major difference is the shared transportation to the parks. CSR does not share with another resort and is usually less crowded because of the convention aspect.

Better food court - in both selection and quality at CSR.

But - I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. How much of a letdown could there be - you'll still be in Disney!
