Is busing at POR really that bad and can anyone recommend a Pool view RR that they really love? Thanks!

We didn't find using the buses bad at all. I personally like the river views better in the plantation side, but it depends on if you want alligator bayou, mansion or royal rooms.

Every resort can have their good & bad bus moments. On the whole, we have found buses to be mostly good at every resort we have stayed.
Now, we have not stayed at POR but we did stay at POFQ and those buses were awesome!
What deters me from POR is that it has kind of the same set up as CBR as far as buses, with the multiple stops within the resort. We did not enjoy that.

We have stayed at CBR the last few times and the multiple bus stops is what we disliked most. I was hoping that with fewer stops at POR it may be better. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks. Thanks!

I have been staying at POR/POFQ for the last 9 years and never had issues with the buses. The POR buses have always been great, but they can be a hit or miss at any resort. We may have just been very lucky. There are 4 bus stops, but it really isn't that bad, but sometimes they do share with POFQ.

Last November I stayed in a Royal Room at POR and was upgraded from a garden view room to a pool view in Oak Manor, Building 90. It was room 9278 and I absolutely LOVED it! I actually requested this room on Touring Plans (totally not realizing it was a pool view, I thought it was a garden view) and I was still assigned this room. It was a corner room on the 2nd floor. It was only steps away from the foot bridge, so the walk to the main building was only 2-3 minutes and I always used the South Depot bus stop. I would definitely request this room next time. I absolutely loved it. I always request Oak Manor Building 90 when I stay in the royal rooms. Great location!

We had no trouble with buses in January, I think we may have waited 10 min once to get somewhere. We also took the boats to DS every night, and thought they worked really well. Our room was poolside and just fine, but it was winter and they weren't busy. We don't mind walking in the least, so I have no idea if it was 3 min or 8 min to the main building.

We stayed at POR for one week in Sept 2015. In our experience, they frequently picked up at POFQ and POR so you had 5 stops, so it was as frustrating as CBR. The South depot was frequently very crowded. We were in the bayou and would sometimes use the West Depot, it was quieter there. During the week, part of our group were taking the bus to Typhoon Lagoon and the other half was playing golf then taking the rental car over to meet us a little later. After waiting about 45 minutes, the transportation guy at the South depot said he had no idea what was going on but it would be another hour before they got a bus to TL. At that point we gave up and waited for the rest of our group to take us in the rental car. Something strange was going on that am. Other than that one weird issue, the busses were pretty average / on par with the other resorts.

As a couple of dissers mentioned, buses are good and bad everywhere. We have stayed at POR many times and think it's a great resort. You mentioned that you have a RR pool view room, I would suggest Oak Manor because it is slightly closer to the foot bridge over to the main area. The multiple stops never bothered our family, we use the time to talk about what we want to do at the parks or our plan etc. and the next thing you know we are already at the park.

If you waited for south depot(is that the one near the main buildings) Was there always room to get on the bus when it arrived?

Does anyone know what happens if you are at the South Depot (last pick up stop) if buses are full before they get here? Does it get skipped? Will they send a bus to South Depot in that case? Just wondering as we have preferred room booked (south depot) and are thinking that maybe we should walk to the West Depot bus stop (first pick up).

We stayed in a preferred room in June and there were a few times that the buses arrived full but they usually had a second bus following close behind. And on the ride home from the parks in the evenings the bus would often get permission to stop at South Depot first to drop off guests when the buses were packed.

The only time we found the bus situation bad is when we left a park at closing and there would be huge lines that would fill six buses or more. One time, June 5th, to be exact) we had a really long line at DHS when the Star Wars fireworks were only showing three nights a week. They combined the POFQ and POR buses, too, which made things worse. I bet it took twelve or more buses to clear that line out.

We found we had an easier time getting on the bus when we went to the West depot versus the South depot. We got on some very full busses at the South depot that were standing room only but there was never a time that one pulled up that we couldn't get on. I did see them turn away a ECV once though cause the bus was too full for them to safely get them on board, they said they would have another bus along shortly.

How far of a walk is it to west from preferred rooms? We are reserving preferred for my dad b/c he can't walk long distances (gets winded and definitely can't run to make a bus!)
Is there a preferred room location we should request?

I just got my room text and I've never stayed at POR before (my plane doesn't fly out til 7). It's building 85 Magnolia Bend Building, third floor. Hope this is a good location?

This is why we no longer leave at closing, we had the same issue when we stayed at CSR years ago. Since then we will normally hang around and shop or grab a snack and find a place to relax while watching the mass of people heading to the exits. It's amazing the difference in line size by just waiting 30-45 minutes.
:)

We loved that building! River side is best of all, you are so close to everything. You'll use the East Depot and we had great success with it. We were just back a couple weeks ago and in a Royal room so we were a bit further away and still preferred to use the East depot over South most days.

Building 85 is fairly close to both bridges over the river, one to the lobby comes out right by the boat launch and the other comes out by the pool. You are next to the building that has the movies too.

We were in building 14 and it was a short walk to the food court, the main pool and the south bus depot. We seldom had a problem getting on a bus at the south depot.

Good location. You are right by a bus terminal and a bridge over to Ol' Man Island and the main hub.
