I love this resort. Everything was so nice. We stayed in AB building 17, right near a quiet pool and laundry. We were room 1722. The facilities were very nice. Here is how I rate them:

Main Lobby...4/5-nice entranceway

Concierge and Front Desk services..4/5-everyone was always a great help.

Housekeeping...4/5...the room was clean, just a little mold on the shower curtain. Also the trundle for some reason did not get mad for some nights while we were there (we left it open all the time...?)

The room itself...5/5-nice layout and i loved the privacy curtain.

FoodCourt...3/5-nice selection, the drink station COULD be cleaned a little more often. Crowded times in the food court:Bfast,Dinner, and after park closing (about 9pm until 11pm)

Ole Man Island...3/5-better than POFQ pool which is very short and tame, this is tame but longer.

Never ate at Boatwright's

General Store...4/5-GREAT SELECTION AND GREAT SOUVENIERS!!!:)

Boat rentals are great, we did SeaRaycers they are so much fun!
The grounds of POR are so lush and nice........beautiful. I miss this place SO MUCH!

please ask questions...ask ask ask!

I visited the Contemporary, the Poly, and pool hopped over to the Boardwalk(the have an AWESOME long slide!)

Pics of POR to follow later this week.

glad you had a good time and look forward to seeing your pictures!

Great to hear you had a great time. We were just there this past June and we too loved it. We stayed in AB bldg #14 (forgot the room #). We had a first floor, waterview room. We were right next to EVERYTHING, the only walk we had was to Ole Man Island, which was still not bad. I loved being next to the food court because we had breakfast at Boatwright's quite a bit and we could refill our mugs so easily. I recommend this resort to anyone who wants to stay in a resort that is a moderate with a Deluxe feel. However, when we return to WDW in 2010, we are going to splurge and stay at the Poly in one of their 1 bdrm suites....It is going to be our Dream vacation that we always wanted to take :cool1:

I'm so glad to hear nice things about this resort. I will be staying there for the first time in October and am getting a little worried because I keep reading mixed reviews. Hopefully my stay will be nice like yours. :yay:

How much did it cost to rent the SeaRaycers? And was the cost worth it? I was thinking about doing this during our visit, but don't want to if it isn't worth the money.

Also, are there any general tips you can give this first-timer about the resort? I've done my homework, but there's always more to know. Thanks!

I'm curious if you noticed any difference in park/dinning/resort crowds when the 26th rolled around and Free Dinning started...

Thanks!

I thought about renting those, but there's a speed limit on the waterways around POR, so it didn't seem worth it to me.

The best place to rent a SeaRaycer is at CR or Poly. When you rent one from POR you only go up and down the river that takes you to DTD, and you cannot get out of it to go shopping. However at Seven Seas Lagoon and the Bay, you have a wide open area to play around. We rented a Pontoon boat from CR (while staying at POR) and loved it because we got some really wonderful shots of our kids with Cinderella's Castle as a background.

with my ressie i got a coupon, get 90 minutes for the price of 60. i think it was around 40 bucks for 90 minutes on the searacyer. you can go to old key west or to down town disney.

for a first timer- there will be a lot of walking. and dont let the people on this board who say the bus problems are terrible, yes i had to stand sometimes but they buses were great.

yes the parks were more crowded, but not noticibly crowded. the food court is always crowded so i can not compare. the resort is so big that there is not many crowds, but the pool was crowded the 28th, very much.

Hope this helps, all I can say is expect big lines! Have FUN!

That's great to hear. Thank you for the info. I figured there would be a lot of walking as the resort is large, but that shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully the crowds won't be too bad in October, so maybe we won't have to stand on the busses all the time. We've never had any issues with any of the other Disney resorts we've stayed at, and I am hopeful this trip will be no exception.
