POR to Poly - Will we be disappointed?

We were going to do 4 nights at each. Is 3 nights at the Beach Club enough to give it a try? That will leave us with 5 nights at the Polynesian.

Normally yes I would say 3 nights at BC would work. Not so much if you are going to US twice.

What about renting a car for the first part of the vacation? You could have the car at POR and avoid the buses. It probably pays for itself vs shuttling to US if you are going twice.
Alternatively have you considered staying at US and then going to Poly?

We have! My husband doesn’t want to give up Magical Express, and he really doesn’t want to drive a car anywhere on vacation, so that eliminates the renting a car option.

3 nights at BC would be nice.

How are you getting to US? If it’s a cab/uber, then I would seriously try to convince your husband to do 2 nights at US and the rest at Poly. IMHO, there’s not much of a difference between taking a cab from MCO to US than taking a cab from WDW to US and it would save you a lot of travel time. US has great resorts, their usually cheaper than comparable WDW resorts and some come with express pass.

This honestly makes much more sense. Plus, we have already paid for one night at Royal Pacific. We weren’t even going to use the room except for Express Pass. DH just LOVED Magical Express lol. I think he also thought a cab to US from Disney would be considerably less expensive than a cab from MCO.

Thank you! Will we will regret not trying the Beach Club? It just seemed silly to bother if we won’t even be there to use it. The lack of QS options mentioned by others also concerned us.
I personally would forget about US and POR. I would do the Beach Club split, and spend the extra day at Stormalong Bay midtrip, which would be fun and a great break from the intense touring. This is assuming that you're visiting during a warm-weather month.

We are going mid-January, which is part of my hesitation to stay at BC, although I will admit we had a couple days on our last January trip where is was 80’s and the boys enjoyed some pool time at the Polynesian.

I am still thinking about 3 days at Beach Club. At one point my husband wanted to just go to US, but I reminded him that we don’t even know we will like it.

I wouldn't do Beach Club in January.

For us, we really like the POR because we can take the boat from there to DS after the parks close. We are in our forties and not big bar hoppers but we greatly enjoy Raglan Roads and if possible, go there most nights after the parks close.

We also totally love the Poly because there are multiple ways to get to MK and then a short walk to TTC so you can get to Epcot. We can also go to WL and FW without taking a bus. The rooms seem bigger and we closer to some of the best restaurants we enjoy visiting (besides Raglan Roads!!!!).

I think which ever you chose you will have a great time and an enjoyable memorable trip.

Is this solely because of the weather? I should say we are from upstate NY and are used to really cold weather. Our boys got too hot at the parks on our last January trip and had to go back to the resorts to swim and cool off. It was mid-70’s.

Yes. You can get lucky with 70's temps, & in that case I would swim. But I've also been to WDW multiple times when the temps were in the 30's & 40's with the wind chill factored in. So I guess I just wouldn't count on it being nice enough to swim. Without assurance of that, I personally wouldn't book the Beach Club.

We understand that. That did happen a few days on our trip in January. It ended up being warm enough a couple of days. That said, our boys wanted to go in the pool when it was 38 degrees and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t open.
