Thats crazy! I have friends who are sending their DS and his bride to be to WDW for their Honeymoon (first time at Disney ever). I have been helping them plan it, and when I heard about the discount coming out I told her we would book it with the discount! Come to find out the POFQ rooms (the one they wanted to stay at) aren't even included. Ugghhhh…..
I was going to have her look at the price difference at WL. It may not be that much more.
Sorry you couldn't get a room discount. I understand your frustration!

I feel your pain! I called 7am the day the Visa summer RO discount went live (last Thursday?): not one moderate resort room available for my dates (June 21-28)! (King was available but not for 3 people.) I called again later that day, and the next day, same result. (The lady on the first call said they might 'load' more rooms later that first day, so I should call back.) FWIW, we're only a family of 3, and still nada.

They could be sold out as today was General Public sale and all weekend was Visa holders.

I tried last week with my visa discount didnt get it under that promo either smh

When I was on w/them last week they said call Monday at 7 they are opening up more rooms for the public....

I would keep trying. I was able to get POR this morn with promo, then actually called back to change to AKL.. so that release one garden view POR. Good Luck!

I called and couldn't get a garden view at POR, but got one on Orbitz with and extra 20% off using code discovery

We're doing a split stay in August and could not get the discount on either room!

Like suffieldhockeymom said: Try Orbitz, they have the WDW discount, plus if you use promo code: DISCOVERY you'll get an extra 20% off. Take that Disney - you and your sold out POR rooms :p

The Orbitz with Discover is great. I saved so much and now we could move from POR to YC! The price difference was $33 extra for a total 8 night room only stay.

I sooo understand your frustration! I actually just posted about the same thing..."Tired of Disney's games"!! I tried to get Port Orleans Riverside since Wednesday AM and nothing...tried again today since I thought more rooms would open up...nope...still only had the royal rooms available...same thing they had when I call the first morning it came up for Visa card members!! Ughh...Tired of the games Disney!!! I will continue to try back over the next few weeks, but after this trip, we are certainly going to look at staying OFF site...I don't have the time for this!

I wouldn't go blaming Disney for this. I tried to book a room back in January without a discount, and there were no rooms available at Rack Rate for my June trip at POR. I'd blame all the people who prebook thinking they'll just get the discount rate if one comes out, not realizing that they are actually hurting the chances of a good discount. POR really doesn't need a discount to fill during summer months. It's popular already. They don't offer FQ at all in the promo. I wouldn't be surprised if EVERY POR room below royal really is booked.

This makes me nervous. I have October booked right now for POR, and am NOT keeping it if I cant get a good discount. I get that it lowers the chance of a discount being added if everyone pre-books. But I also know that the standard rooms are first to go, so if there aren't any even available when the discount comes out...not going to do me any good. If I have to pay for a upgraded room, kind of cuts into the discount. Does Disney not realize that if they don't add a discount people will just move rooms or cancel? Just because the rooms are booked, doesn't mean that they will STAY booked if they exclude them from offers. I have already booked offsite too, so if they exclude POR from October discounts, I will go offsite.

I'm sure they take that into account when deciding what to offer and where.

I will say that in my experience talking with other guests while in line or waiting for parades/shows to start that most people pay rack rates and have no idea about discounts. POR is very popular and cheapest option for the casual guest that need a room that sleeps 5. I think those here on the boards are in the minority of Disney guest. I also believe that pre booking decreases chances of all of us getting discounts. Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I don't know what dates you are looking for but there are rooms for 5 available at POR with the discount the week of July 20th when I am going. The only type not available is Standard View. Maybe you can change the dates of your trip to get a room with the discount.

Yes, this is the key right here. It definetly depends on dates for availability.
I called on Saturday with my Visa discount and we are going the first week in August. At that time the available rooms were Pool/ River/ Royal Room. I took Pool though I would've preferred garden. It ended up that I could've either used my AAA and took garden or choose Pool (higer price) and was basically the same price. I did take the pool, my boys will love it.

Well I just went online to see what was available now since I booked the Pool view under the Visa on Sat., and now for our dates is only RR.

So then I put the next week in and there was Preferred/ and River. (Aug. 10 to the 16th)

Try Orbitz, I booked in June and got the summer discount then used DISCOVER to get an extra 20% off.

Okay, so this morning I was playing around with my dates on the Disney site and even though on Saturday when I booked the best I could do was pool view! so I took it.

But today when I looked Preferred popped up which I prefer! So, I called and switched. Same price and super easy.

there was no pool view available today, but now I imagine there would be!
