POR royal room or split stay WL and Dolphin? HELP

Thanks for the info! Preferred rooms are already sold out for our dates. So to avoid the far AB rooms the only thing we can do it book a Royal Room. And since the far end of Parterre Place looks really far from things the only way to avoid that would be pool view. Am I right?

Yes, the only way to guarantee you are not in AB is to book Royal Rooms. If you are not an AB fan, Preferred Rooms wouldn't have done any good since all preferred rooms are in AB.

I'm not sure what the current resort categories are at POR because I believe they've changed some recently, but I THINK pool view, water view, river view, or courtyard view (if they all still exist) would keep you out of the furthest section of Parterre Place. Water view can also be a view of a fountain, so that would be courtyard facing as well. Not sure about garden view - it could probably go either way.

I wouldn't mind AB preferred but they are sold out. I don't want to be far from everything and the rest of AB is.

There are pool and river views, no more "water views." River view or Garden view would not necessary keep me out of the furthest section of Parterre :(

Now I am thinking 6 nights at WL and 3 at the Swan. Brings the price up to 4,082 including everything but the POR Royal Room Pool View cost is 3994 so that is basically the same cost.

Fingers crossed I can get POFQ free dining for the whole stay. If not, I am STILL undecided! The thought of WL again is soooooo tempting! Love it there, and the Christmas decorations should be up. But the split stay thing would be really hard with my family I think. I hate packing!!!!! I really just want to get settled and stay put. But for 4K POR is not sounding like much of a bargain.

River view would put you in the rooms closest to the front where the river/walkway/bridge is. So while you may end up in the furthest "wing" of Parterre, it would be the rooms closest to the walkway and bridge - not all the way at the back. Plus I think Parterre rooms are physically closest to the river. I recall reading that some of the best river view rooms at POR are in Parterre Place.

Not looking good for POFQ...why does this have to be so complicated! Leaning on the WL/Swan split stay over POR. I just cannot get excited over POR! I was really excited over POFQ though!

We have done split stats 2x. After the first we said never again but the following yr we did it again. Never again and we mean it this time!!! We love pors. We have done the rgr and our girls loved it. Now that our youngest is almost 4 we have to do alligator bayou. We love them. I would do po rgr for the whole trip. We had a room that was just down a flight of steps a short walk to the bridge and a short walk to the food court. About 5 -7 min total. It was a great location. We just looked at the nap and requested a bldg that we felt was close.

yeh, I am really nervous about a split stay. Maybe I should try for POR the whole time. I have 1 day to decide. I am sure it will be a great vacation regardless, but they will be very different vacations depending on what I choose!

We are a family of 5 do we have no choice but to be in ab. We do love those rooms but it is very spread out. We are starting to plan our next trip and I think we will pay for a preferred rm so we won't be very far from the main bldg. one thing to mention is ab bldgs have no elevators so make sure you request 1st floor if that's the resort you choose It's no fun dragging 2 sleepy children and a double stroller up the steps after a long day in the parks not to mention all your luggage when you check in/ check out

I'm thinking of switching to POR. In photos, the bathroom (tub and toilet) looks very tiny. Is it really small or just look that way in pictures?

Thanks!

They are both a standard residential size.

Thanks. I was confused because some people said their bathroom was huge and all in one room, not with the sink separate from the tub and toilet.

That would be the handicapped accessible bathroom.

There are pics on the POR thread.

Okay, that makes sense. One person said she was upgraded b/c of her anniversary, so I thought it was just a deluxe room. Thanks for your reply.

The king bed rooms are also the handicapped accessible rooms. Most likely they had one available.

Ok, now I am deciding between a 6 night WL stay split w 3 nights of Swan

Or

9 nights POR royal room

Same price! I have to decide by tonight and I can't make up my mind! This is over Thanksgiving if that makes a difference.

I also vote for the split stay in this case. We've never found it a huge deal to move with a car. Just pack with a move in mind. Maybe everyones things for 5 days in one suitcase, and all the things for the second half in another. Everything that has to be used every day (toiletries, shoes etc.) in a separate suitcase. Then you can leave one closed. Just an idea.:)

You make it sounds so easy! I am not sure the split stay would be so easy for us. Should I flip a coin at this point because I really cannot decide...

Heads- WL 6 nights and Swan 3 nights

Tails- POR Royal Rooms 9 nights

Same price for both.....I am scared to flip the darn coin! What is wrong with me????

What did you decide?? :)

6 nights WL/3 nights Swan :)

I am really excited! When I booked I checked the WL availability w free dining first, and then I checked POR too and there was nothing available for POR. I was glad I only had 1 choice, and I was leaning toward the WL/Swan split anyway. For less money I could have done 4 nights at WL but that wouldn't be enough.
