Hi there,
We will be travelling to Disney in either late July or 1st week of August. We will be a total of 5 (dh, 2 9yr dds, and 2yr dd). What would you recommend to a friend.. the French Quarter or Riverside? If you like Riverside, would you go w/the masions or the alligator bayou?

Thanks for the feedback :earsgirl:

If there are 5 of you, you have to stay in the alligator side. I think the mansions are nicer, but have done both. When we stayed in the alligator side, we were in a non refurbished room and had a lot of problems with the A/C not working...it wasn't as clean and nice, etc... other than that, I did like it. We just had to change rooms. That took all day, but another story.

If their youngest child is 2 yrs old, then she will not count in the room total, and they can stay at any of the choices.

I have not stayed at any of the resorts onsite, but I have heard FQ is less walking. We are staying at POR next month. I think you would be happy with either and you can travel b/w the two(FQ and POR) since they are sister resorts. Now if u would like the trundle bed, then the Alligator Bayou is the best choice for POR.

I forgot to mention, I like POR much better than POFQ. There is much more to do on the POR side.

From what I've read the alligator side was just redone. More importantly there are trundle beds that sleep 5 in the bayou not the mansions. They have pics here do a search or see if someone can post. This is in POR. I don't know if they have trundle beds in POFQ

we have stayed at both with 2 children 4,7 now and prefer pofq over por. I felt like half my time was spent walking from one area to another and the fq is much smaller and has a cozier feel to it. Keep in mind that buses run through pofq first and then hit por so if you go at a more crowded time you will get shut out of alot of buses. We sure did.

As mentioned before, the AB is the only section that will handle 5 because of the trundle bed. We stayed in the AB in '99 and in Magnolia Bend in January and I would say we prefer the AB section better. It is more rustic and the landscaping is great.

Don't forget to take the kids to see Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson perform in the Riverside Roost, Wednesday-Sunday evenings, 8:30 PM-Midnight. Bob offers some of the best entertainment at WDW! And, grab a nacho platter while you are there!

We have 3 little ones (5,3,1) and we love POFQ. We'll be staying there for the 3rd time in May. :) We love the size of the resort, there is never a long walk anywhere! :sunny:

I didnt realize they bused both together. I am at POR in June, and now im fearing the no room on the bus thing. We have always stayed at CBR, and there were plenty of buses and always room. :guilty:

Kaylee27,

I wouldn't get really worried about the bus situation at POR; I just returned yesterday, and, granted, it's not June or anything, but the parks were pretty crowded and I never had one problem with the buses. I really think it's hard to generalize that any specific resort has bad bus problems. I've been told in the past that certain resorts were terrible, including in this case, and I haven't had any trouble. In fact, this trip my Mom and I never had to stand on the bus once in 6 days! POR is a great resort, and you're sure to have a blast! :) :wave2:

Hi...we have stayed at both POFQ '04' and PO Riverside "05" and have twin boys 6 years old...with out question we enjoyed POFQ more due to the ease of getting around the resort...Riverside is spread out...on one particular day it rained and it made getting around somewhat difficult...especially if you wanted to bring breakfast back to the room. I suggest that you take POFQ and you can go over to Riverside to walk around the resort....either way have a Magical time. :cool1:  ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo
