POR river view/preferred location question

Question regarding room locations at POR. I am interested in a river view but also would prefer the convenience of a preferred location. Are all river views already preferred locations? Or might I get a river view that was a long distance from main buildings? I think it is more important to have a convenient location for us but I'd love the river view too. I believe river view was more expensive than preferred so that makes me think it might already be in a closer location. Thanks!

Not sure which are preferred rooms. We stayed in the mansions along the river and it was great. About a few minutes walk to main building and right near bus stop by bayou.

We did royal rooms river view twice and really enjoyed the room and location. Because you have river view your straight out your room on the path to the bridge. It a short walk to the main building, food court and main bus stop.

Do not believe that Preferred River View is a bookable category, it's one or the other.

Preferred and River view are two separate categories at POR. The preferred rooms are in the Alligator Bayou section and the views are either parking lot or garden. The river views in the preferred buildings are booked as river view not preferred (if that makes sense). I had a river view at POR last October and my room was in the Alligator Bayou lodge #14 which is the closest lodge to the main building. Lodge #38 would have river view rooms but those rooms would be a long trek to the main building.

Thank you. The map helped quite a bit. I can see now that no matter where river view is it won't be a bad location to main buildings. I plan to request close to the main buildings and see what happens.
