I must say this resort has a 'deluxe' feel to it, from the lobby decor to the lush foliage surrounding the bldgs. I would almost liken it to the Polynesian. The rooms were clean, the CM's helpful and the atmosphere was so peaceful. I can understand why people like this place so much. It's definitely one of those resorts where you need more than a few days to fully appreciate it.
We stayed in AB bldg #15, room #1556 upstairs. It was a bit confusing finding our room in the dark as we checked in a little later than we hoped. We were so hungry that we decided to eat first too. That might not have been the best idea seeing that we really didn't know our way around this place.
We followed the path out the back doors of the food court and asked for some assistance from a fellow Red Sox fan as to the location of bldg #15. We headed down a winding path past a parking lot and onto the walkway of bldg #15. After circling the downstairs a couple of times trying to figure out the number system, we took a set of stairs that was nearby. Mind you it was just me and the kids as DH was in the lounge watching the precious game 7! We finally came across our room in the middle of the bldg facing a small courtyard. it was on the corner of a 4 way intersection, two of which led directly to stairs down toward the parking lot! Now where were those stairs earlier? I unloaded the van myself, DH joining me later to get the last few things.
The AB section is laid out much like CBR only the landscaping is so thick that you can't just step off the walkways any old place. There are little paths through the bushes in some places that people must have cut through over time. You also can't see over to the next bldg or pool due to the trees and shrubs. That must be why this place is so quiet, built in insulation!
I took the kids to the quiet pool the first night but it was a little cold for me, not sure if this pool was supposed to be heated or not. The kids had a fine time and met another family of kids their age.
We didn't get to spend much time at the resort in our 4 short days there but we managed to eat dinner at Boatwright's, breakfast at the food court, visit the main pool and slide and take the boat to DTD which was wonderful!
Although this was one resort I always thought would be last on my list due to it's large size and location (and indeed it is one of the last 5 or 6), I enjoyed our stay here and would definitley return, probably to the mansions next time for a little variety.
I also want to add that thanks to some advice here on this board, we tipped daily and were delighted to receive our first towel animals, 3 in all! Not sure if it was the tipping or the great mousekeeping staff here at this resort that clinched it for us but we will always have great memories of this place!
