This is my first solo trip. I am very excited about it, but I am also a bit concerned because I will have an ECV, from Walker Mobility, for the short time that I will be there. I booked my room online and I called today to ask for a ground floor room or at least to be placed in a building with elevators because I won't have the ability to move the scooter around much on my own. I was told that it could not be guaranteed, but that it would most likely be honored.

Now, I am a bit concerned because I don't arrive on property until about midnight because I am on a late flight and using Magical Express. If I don't get that guaranteed, I am afraid of the drama that will follow.

Should I call back and ask for someone other than front line CM's at CRO? Or am I worrying about nothing? TIA

Did you tell them that you needed that sort of room location due to medical necessity? If not, call back and make sure they understand that. Medical necessity includes needing it because you need to be able to get your mobility equipment (which an ECV counts as) to/from the room. If you need it due to medical necessity and they know that, my impression is that you should hopefully not have any problems.

I agree with this. As long as your confirmation states, in the remarks section, that the ground floor or close to elevator is required due to medical necessity it will be honored.

When the rooms assigners start looking at requests before they do the actual assignments, they look for that information first.

The CM said that he didn't think that it would be a problem, but it wasn't guaranteed. The ECV is certainly not a toy for me, I need one if I am going to enjoy my stay because of my health issues. It is a medical necessity. While I can make it through the majority of my life without such a device, I am not up to the walking, standing, and fatigue that goes along with it in Florida's heat. I love WDW, but my body doesn't. Ah the joys of a still undefined auto-immune disease....NOT!

Thanks for your input. I hope that there is no drama when I get there. If they can't put me in the right kind of room at POR, I would be glad to move somewhere else, well, not CBR, but just about anywhere else on property would be fine with me.

I wouldn't want you to arrive at midnight and have to be moved...way too much drama! I'd call back and be sure that special services has blocked a room for you. You should be put on hold while the room is blocked by that department so that it IS guaranteed. After all, if you aren't provided a way to get your ECV in the room then you can't stay there so it's not really a request- it's a necessity.---Kathy

Please call back and make sure it says that the ground floor is for medical reasons. Just talking to a different person can make such a difference in your peace of mind!

I agree with all the PP's, you need to call back and have them put a guarantee on it with Special Reservations, or call that dept yourself, the number is 407-939-7807 and advise them of what type room you need. I make my reservations with CRO, but always check with Special Reservations, because the message can sometimes get relayed wrong. Even with elevators, it can be difficult to manuver in and out when you are alone (they close quickly), so I would recommend trying to get a ground floor room. Your medical issues do allow your request to be guaranteed and there is no reason that it shouldn't be especially at WDW.

Thank you!!!! OMG, that was perfect. I held off on calling today because it was crazy at work, but I just got off the phone with a wonderful CM who made the appropriate notes to insure that everything will go well. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing!

Oh, did I mention my Magical Express tags came today?

:cool1: :yay:  That is wonderful, and here is a little Pixie Dust for your trip pixiedust:

Oh, trust me, I feel like you guys already sprinkled me with pixie dust! But, have some for yourselves too! pixiedust:

And Ms. Suzanne, I think we might have a chance to meet in December! If so, I want to give you a big ol' hug!

Yeah, that would be sooooo cool. We will be at AS Music Family Suites Dec 13-21, so we will be close by. Mom and I will be scooting around in our ECV's for 9 glorious days.

I sure hope it's cause I did something good, cause I have been up to no good lately :rolleyes1

Well, our trip in December will have me and my partner's mom both on ECV's and Corey will be on foot. She keeps telling me that she want's Heely's, so that she can grab ahold of our scooters and get pulled behind, but I told her that's a "No, No!" :rotfl2:

We are going to be at ASMo. As much as I would love to book us in a 2 bedroom suite at OKW, I just don't see it happening. Corey doesn't have the trust factor gene that is required for DVC point rentals and $530/night is just insane, especially when you can say that your entire 9 nights at ASMo cost about as much as one night at OKW, well two if you factor in the fact that we have 2 rooms booked at ASMo.

I am planning on making matching shirts for us, so that the photos turn out nice. We already have Christmas Reindeer Pluto Ears that Corey picked up at a Character Outlet store in Salt Lake City for $0.79 each that were originally $14.50 each. :woohoo: You can't miss us! I have a lime green Mickey Head keychain and there are LGMH's tags on our bags. If you see us, please do say "Hello!"

I wish I was going then just to be able to see you in your Christmas outfits!:thumbsup2
hope you all have a great trip:wizard:

I hope to see you in December too! I always have my lime green Mickey head hanging from my chair but I don't think it's visible enough so perhaps I'll hang one on Skye ( my service dog). It's always fun to meet someone you've chatted with. I hope everyone has fantastic trips to WDW- we need them!---Kathy

I will definitely want to say hi, since we are staying at the All Stars as well. we will be next door at ASMu I can hardly wait. Mom and I will be on ECV's, so we should be easy to spot as well. I am going to get some of the Lime Green Mickey ears made in June, when we go for my birthday, like the ones you showed in your other thread.

I got my tax refund today and will be making a big payment on our trip. Now, I just need to start saving some spending money.

I am getting so excited. We have decided to go the the MVMCP on Thurs, Dec 18, since we went on a Tues evening in 2006. I just need to sit down and plan out the rest of the trip. I will definitely try to get some on my LGMHs made before that trip.

Well, you are just ahead of me. I haven't decided which day we are going to do what on, except for MVMCP and we will probably skip CP, unless there is a great speaker (we had Mario Lopez last time:sad2: ).

I also wanted to avoid MVMCP on 12/14 and 12/16, because the Pop Warner and Mousefest crowds may still be there :scared1:

I have decided which restaurants we are eating at. Notice how I said I, nobody else gets a vote, cause I ususlly pick the best restaurants anyway. DH doesn't care and mom like the same food I do and is willing to try new stuff, so it is easier to only have one hand in the planning :lmao:

How do you decide what to do each day? Last time, I used the best day chart from UG and the park calendar, but I want to have it more organized before the calendar comes out. We will be at WDW June 7-10 and I will have to be ready to book my ADR's as soon as we get back.

Suzanne

Corey and I have done CP in the past. It's ok and we didn't do it the last time we were there in December. The only reason that I want to do it this time is because of my MIL. I think she will enjoy it.

We have had extremely good luck going to MVMCP the Sunday after Pop Warner/MouseFests. We did this in 2003 and 2005. We have also been on the Tuesday night afterwards, but it was not a good night to be there at all.

We have had extensive discussions about the restaurants already. They are more or less settled upon based on desire to go, trying something new, and an effort to not blow out MIL's sugar or salt intake, which will require that I make some special arrangements for her once I get the ADR's in place. MIL has CHF and Diabetes.

My touring plan is made from current info from Touring Plans and, since we went in 2003 and 2005 during that time frame, I have lots of old data to pull from....even old TGM predictions. I think we are going to have an awesome time!

Tonight's the night that I arrive at POR. I just wanted to thank everyone once again for all of your assistance. :grouphug:
