POR questions

I stayed at POFQ last July 06. Sometimes the bus went to POR to get people there too, but it was never crowded. The only time it was crowded was leaving MK at night to go back. But it really wasn't that long of a ride to have to stand in. It won't make or break your vacation.

Thanks for all the input. I don't want to rent a car because we always drag our own carseat and it is a hassle. So I will give DH a full briefing on patience!

I have seen several people mention the FQ because bus service is better. We went during the heart of Spring Break, stayed for six days, and we had no trouble with the buses.

We opened a park every day and closed a park every night. One night when we closed the MK we had to stand and then a couple of times after the afternoon break we had to stand going back to the parks.

Overall, however, we were very comfortable. We had a party of 9 (including a stroller) and loved the Riverside bus system. Even better, is that the Riverside has multiple stops so you can be dropped off closer to your room. I honestly don't know if the FQ has that or not.

Good luck!

Hello,

We are booked at POR and I am starting to worry about buses. Is it really true they always fill up at POFQ? Any recent experiences? DH's patience (impatience) is legendary!

Another absolutely non-related question: if we need a fridge should we request now or at check in? And can you get milk at th grab n go? DD is a Cheerios eater and we drag a box wherever we go. Need that bol to get her going to LOEMH!!!

TIA,

Sophie
We always stay at POR and we have never had trouble with the buses or the boats. As far as first shot has to who gets picked up first we always did at POR but the POFQ got let off first and we were there in Feb. We only had one wait that was more than 10 minutes long and that was 15 minutes long.
Also our room had a fridge in it so double check when you book your stay.
Good luck with your stay and enjoy. Can't wait to hear about it.

We stayed at POR in 2006 and POFQ this past Feb. We did have bad bus service when we were at POR. Most of the time the buses were almost full with guests from POFQ, so we would usually end up having to stand or even worse, wait for another bus to come.

When we stayed at POFQ it was a different story. We really did not have any problems with the buses except once. We were very pleased with the buses. It is due to the buses stopping at POFQ first, it really makes a huge difference.

We were at POR this past June and never had a problem. You will be fine.

We just returned from our first stay at WDW. The POR buses were always crowded, and it seemed as if we had to wait forever for more to come, especially leaving the parks. The buses seem to favor POFQ resort since they got the first stop in both directions.

We always stay at POR and the buses pick up first at POR and drop off first at POFQ. Enjoy

I stayed at POR the 1st week of free dining this year and have to say that the busses were wonderful! We never waited more than 10 minutes coming or going. Also, there is a common misconception that the busses go to POFQ before coming to POR. This was only true in the middle of the day and for drop-off. However, if you get on at the main depot at POR you may think the busses have come from POFQ but in fact they are full from all the other stops at POR. Our room was near the West Depot and every single morning we were the 1st group picked up by the bus. We then went to the North and East depots and by the time we got to the South Depot which is by the main entrance the bus was pretty full. On the way home we stopped at POFQ, then South, West, North, East. So, if you want a seat at POR, don't get on at the main depot! (It's a trade-off really, those with the rooms closest to everything have the most crowded bus stop.)

I never thought about that! People getting on at the Main Depot to a crowded bus may very well think that it filled up at POFQ. And many people have posted on the Dis that after they got on, the bus was filled and went straight to the parks, leaving the poor people at the other stops. When actually they were already on!

We had the very same experience using the West Depot - empty busses, short waits, no lines to get on. :cool1: We found nothing to complain about. I have advised others to use the West Depot (or other outlying ones) over the Main Depot, but I'm in the minority there!
