You'll enjoy the PO Riverside. Since youhave 5 you will be in the alligator bayou section. We stayed in bldg 15 and it was a good location. I think if you are in bldg. 14 (reserved for physically challenged guests), 15, 16 or 18 you won't be too far from anything. You might want to consider asking for a ground floor room. There are no elevators and with little ones who are tired at night the ground floor is a nice touch. The other thing you might want to consider is asking for a room that doesn't face the parking lot. My fear is that a small one will dart off into the parking lot. If you are facing one of the courtyard sections (same price as parking lot) then that eliminates that possibility until you reach the parking lot. Just a thought.
The food court there is great. They have a wide variety. Even my picky 3 year old found something to eat there. Chicken strips and mac/cheese were his favorites. They also have a TV video running all the time and a large
lego table to keep kids occupied while adults eat. There are also entrees that adult enjoy - I liked the taco salad. And, don't miss the bakery. I never did.
They have a playground there, if you have time. We never did. But the one at the POFQ is a little better suited for younger kids. The PORiverside has a main pool on old man island which is nice. There is a bar right there and close by is a fishing hole. The kids can fish there. They give you a pole and worms. They charge by the 1/2 hour. It is neat if they don't get that experience elsewhere.
Keep in mind, at night when you are leaving the parks at closing, sometimes the bus fills up quickly. A lot of people will stand. They tend to have several buses waiting in the "wings" and we typically wait for another bus so we can sit instead of stand. It is easier with young children. If you are in the bayou buildings I mentioned then you will get off at the 2nd bus stop which is nice. The first stop is at the POFQ and then they stop 4 times at PORiverside.
The rooms at Riverside are adequate. You can see pictures on the website. But, the trundle bed is not large. Works well for a smaller child.
If you have any other questions just post them. I'll be glad to answer. We have stayed at POFQ 7 or 8 times and only once at Riverside. But you can't fit 5 in a room at FQ. Keep in mind that you can walk down and use the pool at FQ. The theming is really very nice. Kids tend to enjoy it tremendously. Plus the slide is smaller and not as curvy or fast. Better for young kids.
