POR Question

So I just got off the phone with POR and my question was completely avoided. I have a bad feeling about our stay :guilty: I don't know why, but I just do after that phone call.

I was calling to see if POR just had King Bed rooms on the 1st floor or if it was possible to request a King Bed room on a top floor. Were hoping to get a King Bed in the Mansions section and it would be wonderful if we could get a King on a top floor.

I don't want to waste my reservation request on something that isn't even poossible so I thought I'd call them to get an answer. The lady kept telling me to call back within 7 days. I tried to tell her that I understand that, but I wanted to know if they even HAD King beds on the 2nd or 3rd floors so I can modify my potential request to at least make the request somewhat attainable. Then she says that requests are just requests and they're not any type of garuntee. I know that! I just want to make sure I'm not requesting something that isn't even possible.

So I didn't get my answer! I guess I'll call back on Monday since that is 7 days out for us. Does anyone know if there are King beds either in the mansion or alligator bayou section on any floor other than the ground floor? I'm open to any place that has a King bed as of now, but like I said, we would really prefer a room in the Mansions.

Last January, we had a King room on the 2nd floor in AB, it was also a corner room.

My husband and I stayed in Alligator Bayou in 2004, (loved it) we also had a King bed room on the second level in a corner room. It was great and we are going back this August! Good luck!

I think sometimes the CMs who work at Disney are either uninformed or so busy that they don't give us information we need. I can tell you we just returned from a wonderful stay at POR. We arrived at 3pm, which had to be prime check-in time because of all the people in the lobby. The line did move fast. Anyway, when I got to the desk, I asked the CM if there was anything available on the bottom floor in building 15 or 16. We got bottom floor in building 16. I do think they do their best to give you what they have available. I would call disney and request top floor king bed. Then have them put Mansion section. I think they can put two request on your reservation. I personally don't think you will have a problem getting the Mansion section. From what I gather from reading the boards alot of people do request AB mainly because they want to be close to the main area.

I stayed in the magnolia terrace mansion on the 3rd floor with a king bed. It was NOT a corner room.

We stayed in Alligator Bayou in building 28 on the second floor with a king bed. It was a corner room.

I think you will love POR regardless of where your king bed room is. We really wanted the mansions in 2006 and got AB. In 2007 we really wanted AB and got the mansions. We loved both equally. We have always stayed in a King Bed room and found them to be comfortable.

p.s. We haven't been put on the ground floor yet! So I would bet they could do it for you.

Speaking as some who has answered client inquiries over the telephone, I can kind of understand why the person did not tell you if this was an available option - The below scenario does not reflect you or how you would act in this situation - but I have seen similar interactions many, many times:

1st call
Client "I am calling to see if POR just had King Bed rooms on the 1st floor or if it was possible to request a King Bed room on a top floor. Were hoping to get a King Bed in the Mansions section and it would be wonderful if we could get a King on a top floor. I am not making a request, just checking to see if it's even a possible room configuration."
Reservationist "Yes they are - it is a room configuration we offer - but please note that requests are not guaranteed."

2nd Call
Client "I'd like to request a king room on the top floor of a mansion."
Reservationist "I've noted that request - but please note that requests are not guaranteed."

Arrival day
Reservationist "We have a King room for you on the 1st floor on a Mansion."
Client "But I was told that I could have a King room on the top floor! I want to speak to the Manager!".

While most people (the OP included) are reasonable, rational people - rules are really made for those who expect the exception to them. So the reservationist can't comment on room configurations because *some people* might consider that a request (without making that second call) or a guarantee.

I know exactly what your problem is... when you call the resort you are actually getting a call center and they are trained not to put you through to the resort.. it makes me so mad! You really have to come up with a question that they don't know to get passed on to the front desk or whover.. but its nearly impossible.
