Planning and Oct. '04 trip to either POR or POFQ. Anyone familiar with the bus service to either of these resorts? Which one gets picked up first, dropped off first, do the busses only service these two resorts or are there others in the loop?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also any non-smoking building recommendations would be great.
Thanks.

I know that the buses only serve these two resorts. We have stayed at both resorts once. Out of both trips, we only stopped at another bus stop once- POFQ went to POR. I think it depends on how busy they are, etc. At POR we used the bus stop near the main building- the south depot- and went directly to the parks. Maybe Tyler can help with this one if he's reading this board. Both of our trips were during Thanksgiving week and we had excellent service at both resorts. We are planning on staying at POR and hoping POFQ reopens so we can switch to there. We love both but POFQ is our favorite resort!

We stayed in French Quarter last Spring, just before renovations.

The bus schedule at that time, was:

French Quarter first pickup, then over to Riverside, to do all 4 stops.(we got a seat every time)

On the way back from the Parks, French Quarter was always the first drop off. Did not have to stand long.

Prior to staying there, we thought that the one bus stop at French Quarter would be inconvenient. It was not at all. Everything was a short walking distance, but did not seem crowded.

We liked it, (except for the cheerleader/band invasion). They were staying at Riverside, but decided to use our pool.

Both resorts are beautiful, you cannot go wrong by staying at either.

POFQ is my FAVORITE moderate resort!!! I love the fact that it is so compact and that no matter which building you are in, it only takes a couple of minutes to get to the main building, pool, foodcourt & bus stop. I would recommend a room in building #5.

The buses always stop at POFQ first both going to and coming back from the parks. Depending on the time of year, they will share buses with POR, although during peak times they tend to have separate buses. POFQ has only one bus stop.

I know this is kinda off topic- but maybe of interest to the op.
Terk1- why building 5? I know this is a good location, but why not building 4? I've read that smoking rooms are available in building 4, but is the whole building smoking? Just curious and really hoping POFQ reopens for our Thanksgiving trip!!!

We also stayed at the POFQ last spring and loved it. Even though it was peak season (Easter week) we always did the loop around Riverside. We had a room in building 5 - it was wonderful.

The French Quarter was always the first stop on the way back.

I am allergic to smoke - building 4 has a large number (majority?) smoking rooms.

POFQ is one of our favorites! We stayed at POFQ for Christmas 2002 and stayed in bldg 5. Actually we started out in another room, but the toilet was leaking onto the bathroom floor, so we were moved to Bldg 5. I can't remember the room number, but it was ground floor, at the end of the bldg. I paid for a standard room, but had a nice view of the water taxi as it went up and down the river. When I stay there next, I will request Bldg 5.

But back to the bus issue, I would probably pick POFQ over POR just for that reason. It was nice to be first on.
