Should I have picked POR instead??? Okay years and years ago...our very first trip was when POR was called Dixie Landings. I remember we really enjoyed it. Now with almost 10 trips under our belts we are taking a last minute trip back in Jan. I had booked SOG because we can stay there but when AP rates came out today I jumped on the 99 a night at POFQ. I REALLY no nothing about it. LOL I know that POR has the trundle bed for a small child so some people like that feature. My dh is not going on this trip so it will be myself and our three kids. So although SOG has MUCH bigger rooms and is closer to MK....we want to try a place we have not stayed at before. We have stayed at CB, CS, POR so why not French Quarter. Of course.....I start 2nd guessing myself as soon as I book. SO tell me what you like about BOTH.....WOULD LOVE SOME FEEDBACK!!!! I like SOG for the inexpensive stay....closeness to MK and their own busses..but I like staying in the resorts for the theming, food courts and such. Yes we are DVC members but we went and used points in Aug. and will again in Nov. This was just a great deal in Jan. with cheap airfare on SW, AP's and now GREAT AP RESORT RATES..I had to book. Thanks for the help.

I think both are great; we had a really awesome room at POR...of course I don't remember what section it was in. We also really like FQ- I like the beignets!! we always have our own car so if we get a room that's close to the parking lots, it's a plus to us. Since we don't take the bus, I can't speak to any comparisons on the service. I think you'll be pleased with either resort.

We've stayed at both POR & POFQ in the past two-years and I must say my favorite was POFQ. POR was nice, don't get me wrong, but I really enjoyed everything about POFQ a little bit more. Because POFQ is quite a bit smaller, the resort itself seemed to be a lot more relaxing and welcoming, as opposed to the constant hussle and bustle of POR.

In my opinion you really can't go wrong with either one of the resorts. They are both themed wonderfully and really do make you feel like you are in New Orleans or in Mississippii Bayou of the old south. No matter what your ultimate decision is you won't be disappointed.

As for the bus service, we never had any problems at either POFQ or POR. I can imagine if you are going during peak season, you'd be more likely to have problems at POR, since there are 4 bus stops as opposed to the one at POFQ. Boatwrights is a great restaurant and really recommend it!

Good Luck and Have Fun!

I've stayed at both POR and POFQ both are beautiful resorts, but since you mentioned you are traveling without your husband POFQ will be alot easier not matter where your room is, FQ is much smaller. Plus the buses stop at POFQ 1st so it .

Keep what you got you will love it.

We had a great rate last year for our Non-DVC Oct trip and will try to get the FG anytime not staying on points.

Like others have said all rooms are a very short walk to everything, 1st on and off buses and the Boat to DTD is very nice.

I think both resorts are very Charming, so either would be nice.
One good thing about the whole PO Sister Resorts is that you can visit and use either main pool.

If you decide to stay at POFQ you will enjoy the Hot Tub better there
because it is not right next to the main pool but out of the way and harder
for kids to go into the HT without parents (this was a problem at POR).
The HT at POR was filled with Kids (no idea where parents were?) because
it was next to the main pool.
Plus the POFQ HT is larger. I just wanted to relax after a long day at the
parks but could not at POR but whenever we visited POFQ I loved the HT.

Also if you stay at POFQ you can easily eat at Boatwrights Restaurant by either walking or taking the Boat.

Whenever we visited POFQ while staying at POR, it seems much more peaceful. That's one of the reasons we decided to stay there next on next years trip.

Thanks everyone. I am VERY HAPPY THEN. I think we will like it too.

Just to add one more thing: because POFQ is so much smaller, you may feel comfortable letting your kids go alone to the food court/arcade areas. I see you have teenagers, so maybe they could have done that at POR, but if it was me I would feel better with them walking alone at POFQ, especially if my DH wasn't there.

Thanks. Yeah I probably would. I wouldn't let either one walk alone but together I would. I am looking forward to the trip. I am always excited about our trips but I have wanted to stay here so this will be fun.

We loved POFQ when we stayed there. I loved the theming, the size, the Bus Service, and the CM's. It is a beautiful resort and everything is convenient and an easy walk.
It is the first on, first off for the buses to the parks which was very nice. I
think you will love it. Have a Great Trip
