POR or AOA

Hello! My husband and I are having a hard time choosing between POR and AOA for a trip in June for our two five year olds. We think they would love AOA but might enjoy POR as well. If we choose POR, it would be in a royal room and we would choose a Little Mermaid room at AOA (we know they are smaller- but if we chose a suite, they would just come and try to sleep with us anyway).

We wonder about transportation times at both. We are also comparing the food courts and pool. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

POR has a waterslide. AOA doesn't.

Transport times are going to be very similar.

I think it comes down to what theme appeals most. Keep in mind that a Little Mermaid room will be two double beds, versus two queens in a Royal Room. For some, that will make a difference.

I would pick the Royal room over a room at AoA. From what I understand the rooms at AoA are the farthest away from the food court with the suites being closest. A Royal room at POR will put you pretty close to the food court there. I would also go for the queen beds over the doubles.

Hands down POR. Bigger room, more comfortable beds, better food, coffee maker IN ROOM (no way could I walk all the way to landscape of flavors to get my coffee every morning) and boat to DS! I've stayed at POR in a royal room (SO adorable) and in an AoA Suite (I've never been more uncomfortable in my life - beds, pillows, linens were awful).

We had a similar debate and went with POR for our trip in September 2014 and loved it. AOA looks like fun and is nice to visit, but the bed size and walking distance to the Little Mermaid rooms are what pushed us to POR. We went with a preferred room at POR so we'd be close to the lobby and in the Alligator Bayou section, but a Royal room would be nice too. A Little Mermaid room would have two Full beds, not two Queens, which makes a big difference, especially when kids hop in too.

We've done a Royal Room at POR and stayed in a AOA-LM room. The Royal Rooms are very nice with lots of details. Same for the AOA-LM rooms! We felt it was a similar walk to the main area--food court for both resorts. We enjoyed the food court at both. They are a completely different feel--AOA is very bright, lots of energy, very nice themed pool areas (zero entry a plus at the big blue pool) and play area for the kids. You can also walk over to Pop from AOA and check out their food court, etc. POR was relaxing, and we enjoyed the boat to DTD/DS. If you stay at POR you can also use the pool area at POFQ (with the dragon/sea serpent slide). We did not use the buses at POR but did from AOA and they were fine. I think it depends on what type of vacation you want, what you think your children might enjoy, and cost (if a factor). Also as PP mentioned the beds at AOA are full vs queen, if that is a concern for you. Either way you can't go wrong. Have a great visit!
