Welcome to the DIS! Alligator Bayou building 14 seems to be a common request. If you are a group of 4 or less, the mansions look like fun. I personally want to be surprised so I only noted that I wanted a room close to a bus stop. Can't wait to see what we get!

I agree with the previous poster. We like to be surprised when we get to the resort. They have always given us great locations.
We may request an area at check in.

We are staying at POR for first time this coming March. I am leaning toward just being surprised, however I have thought abot requesting Parterre Place just because the pictures I've seen look like something DW would enjoy.

we just returned from our first trip to WDW, and stayed at POR. we loved the place! dh and i stayed in Acadian House (Mansion), and dd and ds stayed in bldg. 38 (Bayou). both buildings were on the northern end of the resort, and we loved it. it was really quiet and close to the north bus stop. Acadian and bldg. 38 were close to each other, so that was convenient for us. we were not the closest buildings to the food court, but we loved the walk through the grounds, and it only took @ 5 minutes. ol' man island (main pool and playground) was between us and the food court, but it was always fun to walk through it...
we did not have a car, so it was not important to us to be close to a parking lot, which may be something you want to consider when requesting a building or room. both rooms were clean, but slightly worn. we loved the boat ride to downtown disney, too.
if i think of anything else, i'll post again -
have fun!

Thank you for all the replies. I am going with my husband and three, will be four, year old son. I thought I would also bring my mother along for the ride. My husband has never been and thinks this vacation is going to be like going to your average-mill amusement park. I hope to plan a nice vacation and surprise them all. I have been to Disney three times and truly love it. But the last time was in 1993!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to learn how to do the countdown on my screen.
