POR mansion question

I have a garden view reservation. Are the only mansion buildings available to me Magnolia Terrace and Acadian House. In other words, at Oak Manor, will all of the rooms be the Royal rooms or is it just some of them?

The new Royal rooms confuse me a little too. I understand there are some at all the mansions (or will be). The rooms are now all priced based on what and where they are. We also have a garden view room reserved for our next trip, but the royal rooms were also available at a higher price. We have requested an Acadian or Magnolia Terrace room, but like all requests, we never know where we'll end up. Disney is usually very accommodating.

Oak Manor and Parterre Place will be ALL Royal Rooms; Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace are all regular rooms.

Each of the 4 buildings have different categories; standard view, waterview, courtyard view, river view and king bed rooms.

If you book the Royal Rooms, you will have to request a view or a king bed.

If you book AH or MT, you can book a room category and then make a room request.

You can check out all the information on the Official POR thread and see pics of some of the refurbishments. Or you can look at portorleans.org. They are both maintained by the same person and have very up-to-date information, based on Andre's contacts and people who frequent the resort.

Incorrect; they are only in two mansion buildings in their entirety.

Also, as Disney continues to add booking categories to their inventory, you will see less and less wiggle room for "accommodating."

Okay, this is fine and I certainly DO NOT want a royal room and have booked a garden room. So, I guess it really doesnt matter to request anything as it will be in either Acadian or Magnolia, or does anyone have any suggestions on that?

You should then request to be in the mansions; they will try to place you there. Don't assume they will automatically place you there.

There are also garden views available in AB in the non-preferred category.

Either Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace are great. I would request either of those buildings, and a room near Bridge to Old Man Island.
This will put you close to the main pool, and a short walk around pool to main buildings, food court, etc.
We've stayed in both Acadian, and Mag. Terrace near bridge and it was a great location. It will also put you near the quiet pool between them.

We had a new room last Aug, and it was really nice. Booked GV room. But got upgradded, we faced the quiet pool.

The bridge is in the middle of Magnolia Terrace and Acadian House, so that is a non issue. If you'd much rather be in the mansions than the AB section, you should make that your primary request.
