POR Mansion, corner room?

Hi, all!

Have booked a POR mansion room (regular view) for a late April trip with my 8-yr-old daughter.

My question(s): Is it worthwhile to request an upper floor corner room? Does that mean we'll have a 2nd window without people walking by it?

I'd love the extra light and feeling of privacy while keeping the shade open!

Daughter's only request is for a "pretty view" . . . so I was going to ask for courtyard . . . Is there such a thing as "courtyard and corner"?

Bed type doesn't matter (I read somewhere many corner rooms have king beds); DH is young enough that she still likes to bunk in with mom.

Thanks, all!

I had a corner room on the 2nd floor of Magnolia Terrace. It had two double beds in it. I don't know if it felt bigger or more airy than the other rooms, because it's the only room I've stayed in on property so far.

What I can tell you is people look in your window if the blinds are open. It's human natuer, curiosity. being on a higher floor just means less people walk by them. I found the veiw really doesn't matter because when you are in the room, you keep the blinds closed most of the time, especially at night.

The corner room I had look at the folliage between the two buildings, but you really didn't notice it until you were out of your room. When you are in the room, you see the railing from the walkway more.

Any room at POR would be nice becuase once you leave the room and walk to the Riverside Mill, the landscaping is so beautiful.

We had a corner room in oak manor (when was non-smoking), but had paid for the water view, so we had the river over looking the main buildings in the distance. It was on the 2nd floor, and the steps were near it, but just 1 flight, not to bad after a long walk. This was a great location, just a short walk over the bridge to the pool & main buildings. In the morning we would walk over bridge get breakfast fast and catch the 1st bus to mk, from the main building, by picking it up there you usually got a seat, and always made the bus, which sometimes was a bit crowded by time the last bus stop at PO-R . (this was a few years ago in summer). 1 window on the side had a view of the courtyard and river in distance & the view from the fron near door was of the river & main buildings. MKY:)

I would absolutely request a corner room. They are not bigger, but so much brighter with the extra window! I always request a corner room at any moderate I go to. :)

I want to bump this and see if we can get more opinions on corner rooms at the moderates. I am thinking of requesting one at POR.

We had a corner room at French Quarter once. I did not like it. People do look into the room as they walk by, but they do that with any window. The two biggest problems for me are light and space. I like to nap in the middle of the day and I like it REALLY dark when I sleep and the second window just adds another sliver of light. Also, this takes away a little space where we like to keep some of our junk. I know, whine - whine - whine - but this is why we don't request a corner room. Also, if we are just there for a quick weekender, this is not an issue at all.

I love corner rooms. We always get a king bed when we stay in moderates, so we always get corner rooms. The extra light, even if the blinds are closed, does help lighten the room.

However, I've never had a room where people couldn't walk past the 2nd window. The walkways go all the way around the buildings, so people can see in either window.

Thanks, all . . . and especially Kermit!

Never having been there before, I thought that the walkways ended at the corner, so that you'd actually have one more "private" window . . . thanks for clarifying that for me!

All things considered, I'll probably ask for the corner anyway--just for the additional light!

We'll be arriving on Monday! Ya-hoo!
