POR just back....

I just came back from a 9 day stay at POR. I was in room 1540 & boy did it need to be renovated!! The carpet was filthy dirty (not the maids doing...they were great). The dresser was all scratched up & the top draw didn't work correctly. The a/c unit was very loud & it was blowing out dirt! We didn't complain to be switched out of that room...we weren't in the room that much & figured we may as well just stay. I didn't see any sign of renovations going on anywhere.... not even PO FQ!! The food court was the same as it was in March... very slow with long lines at peak times and not much of a varity. There was only one bus stop open..the south depot. I would say more than half of the resort buildings were shut down. The theme pool was great & didn't use the quiet, but was open in our section. The staff were very nice.... the boat ran very often, in the evening, never waited more than 10 minutes...the buses ran well too. Any questions you have I will try to answer..... Even though the room wasn't the greatest.... I still love the resort. Disney just needs to go back to the old Disney Standards.......

We had room 1440 and it was very clean, though showing a few signs of age. I think that the reesort theme and layout is terrific and when the rooms have been renovated it will be like a 4.5 star resort

Too bad about your less than ideal room.
I have stayed there just for the location! I love that boat to downtown Disney!

Can you please tell us about the crowds?

We leave 2 weeks from today, and I'm wondering if the crowds will be very heavy. Should I expect the crowds for the end of June to be similar to Easter break? All of our previous Disney trips have been during Easter, so we are used to that crowd.

Other than your room, how was your trip? How was your weather? Where was your favorite meal?

Workin4vacation....You can't go by the crowds that were there last week...the start of the week they were low...as the week went on, they got larger. If you are use to Easter crowds..... they will be lower than what you are use to! Our trip was very good...but the weather wasn't the best. We live in Fla & are use to the rains, but some of the days this past week there were on & off rains thru-out the day instead of the afternoon showers.... that I wasn't happy about. We went to Chef Mickey's & the food was good...the character interaction was great (one of the best we had in a long time there). We had the Kitchen Sink @ Beaches & Cream.... I don't know if it was my imagination but I thought the ice-cream dish got smaller..not sure I may have been a bit more hungry LOL!! My favorite is still ESPN. We love to go there and eat, they are reasonably priced, good food & plenty of it...(we always end up with a doggy bag)......

Magicmouse2.....you are correct in saying once the renovations are done it will be back up there on the rating systems.....but they need to get working on it... when you pay the rates Disney has.....you expect a nice room. I stay on property often & have stayed at a good portion of the resorts there. I have stayed at POR several times before ....but this is the first that I have seen the room really worn down.

I was hoping you would say the crowds would not be as great as they are at Easter!

My 14 yo son really wants to try ESPN & I have shown him a picture of the kitchen sink
from this website, so that is also on our list of "must dos".
