We have stayed at POR the past few trips to WDW and we are always put in the same room or bldg (8020). The room is great it is just that we would like to try another area . We thought we would like to try Alligator Bayou. Has anyone stayed at POR in a handicapped room? Where? DId you like it? Anyone stay really close to the main bldg. I n the past our rooms have been quite far from the main bldg and I think I would like to move closer. We do not have to worry about buses as we have a van. thanks in advance for any info.

I've stayed in building 16 at POR...a fully accessible room with roll-in shower in Alligator Bayou. I don't care for the decor but the location was very convenient...much more convenient than in the "mansions" section. It was really close to the food court area through the side door. ---Kathy

I've stayed in building 14 in the Alligator Bayou section. It had 2 double beds and a roll in shower. It was a great room until the roll in shower leaked onto the carpeting.

I am going to call and put in a request for bldg 14(even though BILLSEARS ruined it with the wet carpet hee hee :) , 15 or 16. When either my husband or I give DS a shower in a hotel the floor gets wet, the room gets wet and we get soaked!!! I know they cannot say they will do it with 100% but I would like it noted if possible. I loved the mansions but would really like to try the Bayou!!!

I called both POR (talked to AMY) and Special services. They will make sure we are in Alligator Bayou but can't tell us what bldg although they noted 14 or 15 were our first choice. It is Christmas time so it may be very difficult. Thanks again for all the help. BILLSEARS if we get 14 I will bring the blowdryer to dry the carpet in case it is still wet :) We are looking into having our bathroom here tiled instead of the lamintae floor we have now because of flooding when using the shower.....I am just joking with you I hope you don't mind! Thanks for the help in room and bldg selection.

D,L,and K's Mom,
What building was your room 8020 in?
We have requested an accessible room with roll in shower on the Mansion side for our trip in February. Wondering what building they might put us in. Special Reservations said it would definitely be on the mansion side, but couldn't tell us what building of course. Did you like your location? And was it quiet?
Thanks,
Angela

Just got back and to make a long story short after many many phone calls to Special Services and POR themselves we were put in room 8018 and 8017. I was so disappointed. The rooms are nice, they overlook the parking lot making it very very easy to get to and from the van. They are far away from the main bldg and the food court. I was diappointed that they were so far away as it makes it very difficult with my son. I was also sad as this is in the same location they always put us in and the location that I had specifically requested we not be put it. Oh well, we had nice rooms and we were in WDW. I dont think I will stay in POR again though. I have had enough of rooms 8017, 8018, 8019 and 8020!
They are located in the Magnolia section. The rooms are pretty quiet except first thing in the morning when people are passing them to get into their cars and when the cleaning people are being dropped off from the little golf carts. The only sounds we heard were voices and cars starting up not bad at all. They are quiet the rest of the day. We didnt seem to hear much at night with people returning. Maybe everyone was tired and didnt tlak on their way back. ;) I didnt like room 8018 because the stairwell is blocking the window so the room was dark all day.

I wanted to mention that we recently got back from SSR where we stayed in a room with a roll in shower. It was great and we did not get water outside of the shower while showering DD.
That resort is still under construction and I have to say that they have gotten the floor angle right so that the water stays in the shower and doesn't go out in the room.

Sounds like we were at POR at the same time as you. We checked in on 12/30 for two nights before moving to SSR for a week. We specifically requested building 14 or 16 in the bayou. DD 12 has spina buifida and uses a chair when we are at WDW. DD15 fractured both ankles a week before we left on the trip. When we checked in, the only rooms available were in building 36. The cast member who checked me in was nice and very apologetic but unable to move us any closer to the main buildings at the resort. There must have been some kind of glitch in the reservations system, even though our reservation had all of the documentation of our needs, we were originally assigned a room on the second floor! It took her 20 minutes and two trips to the back office to find us a room on the first floor. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with our two days at POR. And don't plan on staying there again.

We were so glad to move to SSR. When we got over there, the cast member gave me the choice of three buildings, all near pools and bus stops. She told me she would make sure we were on the first floor. We ended up in the 5500 building in the Paddock. Not a designated accessible room, per se, but then again we don't need a roll in shower. The location was perfect for us! The accomodations for the rest of the trip were great! We just got home last night and are already suffering from WDW withdrawl. :(
