Hi everyone! My dh and I have stayed at cbr and bc and absolutely love them both. When we stayed at pofq we really didnt care for the theme.... so here's my problem... we wanted to stay at a moderate this Oct/Nov to save money so we can do some Christmas shopping this trip but the only mod that we could get our fla disc that was still open was po.I chose the riverside to have a change...now, to my ??? Knowing that we love the cbr and bc and didnt care for pofq... do you, that have stayed at por, think we will like it? The cm said she was going to put us at the Magnolia mansion because it was her favorite and she thought for me and dh getting away alone this time would be the better one to be at. Thank you all for reading around the mulberry bush to get to my ?? :p

What was it you didn't like about pofq? We stayed at por this past June after we had stayed at cbr(which we loved) and did like the landscaping, but for some reason this resort just didn't knock our socks off. We did have quite a few problems with unpleasant CMs, but that's another story.

We also stayed at a mansion bldg.,and it was nice, but we had requested a bayou bldg. so we were disappointed about that.

I guess just the whole new orleans kindof theme just doesnt appeal to us. But the thought of old south gone with the wind kind of thing sounds promising to me... just given the fact of what we do like I thought maybe someone could make some comparisons for me... sorry to hear about your cm let down... many happy future disney blessing going you way though!!

Thanks for the nice thoughts! I guess because I had done so much research and eveyone praised por that we went in with very high expectations which is a mistake. I can say it was a relaxing atmosphere and we really enjoyed the boat ride to DTD, and if not for the problems we encountered I think we would of had a better opinion!
Have a nice trip whatever you decide!

POR is definitely different from CBR that's for sure. Personally, I love the landscaping and appearance of the mansions at POR. They got the look of Southern plantation style mansions down pretty good. And I should know, I come from the deep south. lol Well .... as if that matters!

Inside they are much like any other moderate rooms in my opinion. Stayed at POR twice when it was named Dixie Landings. I liked that name better. Stayped at POFQ once. I liked them both. But then again, I have liked all the Disney resorts I've stayed at from the GF to the ASMu. Never had a problem with CM's ..... worse thing is they may not have been very nice or smiled. .... I can live with that.

I've stayed at both CBR and BC and know where you are coming from. However I have also stayed at Riverside (formerly known as Dixie Landings) It is my least favorite moderate. I prefer a more "beachy" or tropical theme. It was nice but reminded me of some of the town houses near where I live. I found it VERY spread out and a bit further away from the other theme parks. Although it is closer to DTD.

If the resident special becomes available for Coronado Springs (and you would like a change) I say go for it. It is very tropical, colourful, and pretty. I was hesitant at first since I had such great stays at CBR and BC but was pleasantly surprised at CSR.

Good Luck on whatever you decide!

I also stayed at CBR years ago and loved it, but we have 5 so we cannot fit there anymore. This year we stayed at POR bayou part, it was ok probably because I thought the room was too dark. I'm not a very outdoor person. I think you will like the mansion area, it looked beautiful. The food court, bus and boat ride was wonderful. The grounds were very nice. The location of this resort was also good. I think you will be happy with the mansion side. Good Luck.

We enjoyed the POR Mansions section better than the Bayou. The Mansions are just a bit classier. In fact, as you move downstream from the beginning of the river, the buildings and grounds get nicer. This was done by design to gradually move you towards New Orleans (POFQ). Therefore, the "classiest" of the mansions will be the last one - Parterre Place. The changes are subtle, but they really do start to build as you move downstream.

I think that POR is nicer than POFQ. POR seems to make better use of the grounds, creating a more relaxed atmosphere. POFQ seemed like a lot of buildings connected by concrete to me. Admittedly, we have not stayed in POFQ, just wandered around after using the pool. POR has six quiet pools, so there is always one close by for a quick swim.

I have not stayed at the other resorts you mentioned but we LOVED POR. Iw was so quiet and relaxing and beautiful. Our favourite thing was the walk back to our room (Acadian House) every night. It was magical. So soothing and romantic. We liked it so much we are going back on Sat.!

PoohFanKC,

Would you mind describing in more detail what subtle changes you see in the Mansions as you move down the river?

We are staying in Parterre Place in November and would like to know how the building, furnishings, and gardens are different from the other mansions. We've seen some exterior photos, but no comparative interior shots.

Thanks! :)

jeffemy -- Ditto what you wrote. ;)

Same here, exactly.

Luv2Roam,

Did you encounter problems at POR too?

TO all of you:

Those that have stayed at POR....we currently have ressies there for Dec. There are five of us...so would we get Bayou or Mansion?

I thought we would be in Bayou...
Does anyone know?

I am sure we will like it, cause it will be the first time we will be staying on site!

Its purely an exterior thing. The grounds are a little more manicured and the buildings have a bit more ornamentation. Its subtle, but its supposed to be.

I thought I was the only one! I've liked all the resorts we've stayed at too. I like them all for different reasons and have appreciate each one for their own distinct themes. We've stayed at the WL, AKL, Poly, POFQ, CR, ASMU and the ASSp. Next up is the POR..we can't wait! I want to eventually stay at them all-lol.

LOL! I had almost the exact opposite post a while back! We stayed at POR last Oct., and LOVED it! It was beautiful, the CM's were great, food court was great, the boat ride to DTD was so peaceful! We are going to try CBR on our next trip, and I was hestitant to do that because I had heard some unpleasant things, and was so in love with POR. We decided to give a new place a try, so I will suggest to you to the same!! Have a wonderful time!

Ps, we stayed on the mansion side, FYI.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for your responses and advice. I will definately go on this trip with
a good attitude and I just know it will be wonderful... just because I am going to be in the most wonderful place on earth.

I did want to mention that it was suggested for me to call and see if the coronada springs was open and the cast member told me not to call again, because there were no openings there for fla residence and he said that every time I call "just to inquire" that I was taken up a possible slot ( or room) for someone else. He explained that there are rooms blocked out for certain codes and everytime they check on any resorts with that code that it takes up one of those rooms that are blocked no matter if I book the resort or not. Oh well, you learn something new every trip.

thanks again guys and gals!!:smooth:

What?!? No CM has ever suggested to me not to call just to get info on rates or anything else. I always tell them that I will probably call back as I think of more questions and they laugh with me. They always say it's no problem. I'd think that if just inquiring about rates or codes blocked off a room, there would rarely be any open because people call all the time just to get the info.
