POR--chance of getting king bed as a request?

Does anyone have success getting a king bed at POR without booking it as an upgrade and paying for it? It's just the two of us in the room and we'd really prefer a king bed, but I thought I should check and see how likely that is to happen without pre-booking it.

The only time we got a King Bed, we paid for it. If it's something you want, I'd go ahead and reserve it, it's only $10.00 per night

We got upgraded to a King room at POR in Jan. at no charge. We checked in as a standard, got to our room, and decided we were willing to pay the extra $ for a King room. When we went to the front desk to explain, the CMs were very nice, and to our surprise they didn't charge us extra However, the only way to positively have a King room is to pre-book it and pay for it.

for the week of January 24 using a code. We are paying $111/night, including tax. We also requested Magnolia Terrace but don't know if we will get that. It's probably worth it to pay the extra money if that's what you really want.

Well worth the extra $10. One of the reasons I can't do the moderates so much is because of the double beds. When going from a king to a double we hardly get any sleep at all. When it's just the two of us we will enjoy the moderates in a king room!

Thanks for the info! Do you think it would be safe to offer to pay for the upgrade at the desk when we arrive? The resort is still showing availabililty for our dates on the Disney website, so I don't think it will be full.

I would book the king now. We went in Feb '03 we had a king room but my SIL didn't book it and decided to wait for checkin. She couldn't get a king room all week. So if you really want it do it now.
