POR booked for Dec. 2008?!

DH and I have had our heart set on POR for our Dec. 6-13 trip with his parents, AAA gave us a quote, and now we just waited on our tax refund. Got that this morning, and called to book, but were informed POR is completely booked up, and FQ isn't the AAA rate, but the normal WDW rate. I thought December was the slow season! Any suggestions as to why this is? Or anyone know if there's usually cancellations? I am soooo bummed!

I think Pop Warner is scheduled for that week. I know they sometimes spill over into the moderates resorts and I think POR was mentioned as one of them this year.

The 7th thru the 13th of Dec are the Pop Warner dates, so perhaps this is why no room? They do the Values then on to PO & CBR.
Some DISers find the groups rude & noisy other DISers hardly notice.
If your heart is still set on PO, I would call back every day, there are bound to be cancellations.

IMHO, it is not as romantic, but it is a very nice resort, how about considering CSR? There are plenty of food options, a great pool, a hair salon.

Ok, thank you, I knew Pop Warner was that same week, I didn't realized how many there would be! I'm going to let the in laws pick the resort, I think they're choice was CBR, which, IMO I'd rather stay at in the summer (doesn't seem very christmas-y to me) but if Pop Warner spills over to that resort too, I think CSR might be the one!
