I don't want to start a huge thing here like with the POFQ closing but I thought this was interesting.

I've got reservations for Poly/AKL Oct. 17 - 25 but I called CRO to modify my reservation from AKL to POR to save a little money and I was told that there were no rooms available for my time. I asked if this was due to POFQ being closed and she kind of hesitated and then said that no POR was going to be closed during this time also for refurbishment. Sounded kind of fishy to me. So I had to book CBR and from what it sounds like it's pretty full too, in fact all I could get was a waterview which is fine. I wouldn't think that would be a terribly busy time. It looks like the choices for moderates is getting pretty slim.

This makes me a little nervous as we are staying there the first week of October (already booked). I checked on the website w/ your dates and it said POR was not available but yet the week before and the week after it had availablility. If POR was closing for refurb, I wouldnt think it would show rooms available for those other weeks I checked on. Could it be that particular week it is just full?

All I know is what she told me. I asked her several times if she was sure she wasn't thinking of POFQ and she said specifically that both resorts would be undergoing refurbishment and I asked if all of POR would be closed or maybe just portions of it and she said the whole resort would be closed.

Now on the other hand, this is the 4th time I've modified my reservation :o and the CM that I talked to today seemed a little less proficient than some of the others I've talked to so maybe she doesn't know what she is talking about. I think I'll call tomorrow and talk with someone else. Sorry if I've panicked anyone.

That could be - when I originally made my reservation, the rep told me that POR would be closed but FQ is open. Then he said I think I had that backwards and went ahead with the reservation. Please let us know what you find out. Thanks.

on May 3rd all of FQ will be closed and building 80/85 in the mansions will close. And buildings 34-39 will close and Aligator bayou will close as well. Taking the inventory down to about 1,000 rooms.

We have a reservation for July 12-19 for three rooms and have asked for Oak Manor. Is this a good thing because there will be a lot less people staying there or is it going to bad and have services cut.

If codes come out will it be impossible to get a code if they are closing so many rooms?

We really like it there but maybe we I should look into changing.

Any words of wisdom will be appreciated.

Thanks and I hope this makes sense!

Kathy

I got a call from CRO yesterday. We were staying in a King bed room at POR May 3 -10.

The are starting construction on BOTH resorts (all of FQ - part of POR beginning May 3)

I was told - either I have to take either a 2 double bed room OR move.

The offered me $139 at the Polynesian....I moved!!

I've been saying this all along, but no one seemed to want to listen to me. I have posted time and time again that my very best friend works at Dixie and told me exactly what was posted, but so many others kept saying NO POR was not going to be affected. Oh well, I tried. Anyway, I have ressies to stay at POR in October also and will be watching the threads to see if I'll have to move also. Not a big fan of CBR nor CSR, so will have to wait. Would move to FQ if offered.

We are staying at POR from Sept 26-Oct 5. There is 5 in our family. What would they do with us since we cannot move to another moderate (since we have 5), if POR is also getting refurb?

We will have 6 (two are infants in a pack n play) and I am planning on booking POR for just 2 nites... I dont mind upgrading at ALL! Even if for a bit more (we are going in October) Where could we go? CR? I am going to place my ressie and hope for an upgrade... but if not, just being ONSITE is a plus for us! Also, I plan to add an AP code to my ressie when they come out for that time, will that discount carry over if they move us? Steph

megnsamsgrace-

Select resorts are part the upgrade; based on availability (for example; the CR was NOT included in the upgrade package for me)

Still apply your AP rate when it comes available to POR. Don't forget - there is always a chance you will not be asked to move...if they offer you an upgrade to a deluxe - the rate they offer will be WAY better then the AP rates at that particular resort. (for examle - the AP rate for Poly GV was $199; for the upgrade/move - we are only paying $139)

Hope that helps!! If you have any questions - feel free to PM me.

Cris,

First time time posting, though I have utilized these pages for some time.

Is it true that the Alligator Bayou rooms in POR are closing as of 5/3? I ask, because those are the only rooms with a trundle bed(in fact we were told by CRO this is the only moderate with a trundle bed) our family(wife and 2 children) are booked at POR 5/26-6/2 and requested a trundle bed. As our DS is 3 and DD is 7 it's best for them to stay in separate beds to avoid any fighting... More importantly, we called CRO and spoke to the relocation dept when we heard of the construction at POR FQ as our son has asthma and with any construction there's a concern on our part that he could suffer an attack. We were assured by the relocation dept that the construction in POR FQ would not impact the POR as they are far apart, I know this as I've stayed at both resorts. We were also told that there wasn't going to be any construction taking place in May at POR. They did note on our ressies that our son has asthma and if anything changed with construction taking place at the POR that we would be notified. Both CRO and the relocation dept were very helpful with our questions/concerns....

Should I be calling CRO/relocation dept to confirm the construction taking place at POR in May?

Thanks:)
