How far in advance can you get dates? My family is looking to going in August 2008.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner-I missed this one. I'm not taking any requests that far yet. Once I participate in the swap again in Sept. I'm going to have to hand it off to some one else to organize. I think it's too far down the road to start on next summer. Sorry

I suggest waiting until maybe March, or April, of 2008 to get in on one.

I will be at Pop 6/20-6/27 and saw an opening for 6/20-6/23. How do the swaps generally occur when going from person to person? thanks for the info.

I don't want to push, but if you want to participate I need to know soon, as the swapper you would be getting it from will be there on the 11th and arrangements will need to be made soon. I couldn't respond on PM. So here is my note. Since we could only use the refrig. for 3 of the 7 days we are there, my concern is spending the time getting and transferring it to the next person. I can't really purchase cold items to keep for our whole trip when we could only keep it cold 3 days. But thank you for your help and next time I will make arrangements sooner and possibly get the whole week reserved. Judy

Since this swap started last Sept. (06) I'm not planning on continuing it too far into 2008. I honestly don't think it'll be around that long. If it is, and someone else takes over the organizing, then your dates may still work. Keep checking. Also, it really doesn't matter where you live since all the arrangements have been handled through PM, and emails (if nec.) The few times there has been phone conversation has been when there has been a problem with the fridge and my calls have, mostly, been to Florida (POP). Hope this helps.

Hi there, I just got back from Pop yesterday and when I left...there was a fridge in the luggage assistance area with the next person name on it and their arrival date. I did not actually see this fridge, but per the afternoon luggage mgrs (Brady and/or Chase){2 very helpful guys} the fridge was in the storage area. I gave him the new name tags to go on the fridge and actually handed him the toaster to go along with the fridge. Somehow, I guess during my stay, I actually found 3 diff fridges and hopefully got them to their proper home. I have tried to call the next person who checked in after me, but haven't heard from them if they got the fridge or not.
Hopefully this helps and that the swap can be continued.

Sorry everyone, but it looks like our swap has come to an end. Apparently the fridge we have been using belongs to another active swap and they now have it back. It looks like back in early May, when one of our swappers failed to pick up the fridge, she put our information on the wrong fridge (the one POP storage brought out) and she didn't have time to see that it was the wrong one.

I will try to locate our fridge but since it was actually been unclaimed since April 27th, I don't hold out much hope. It's possible that another swap is using our fridge now and that it may be returned to us. Unfortunately, all this could have been avoided had the fridge been picked up as arranged. I'm so sorry, everyone, it maybe that we will luck out and POP will replace the fridge again, but I doubt it.

I'll keep you up to date, if I get any more info.

Hi everyone-GOOD NEWS-the previous report of our fridge being lost was an error. WE HAVE A FRIDGE! Thanks to all the hard work of karla63, as well as managers Chase and Brady at POP, we now have our fridge back. As Karla posted, she was working with 3 different fridges but has gotten everyone back on track.

I posted the above message after I received a PM from another swap saying that we had had their fridge, and they now had it back so we no longer had our fridge. Turns it we didn't have theirs, but we had another group's. Luggage Services had given shannon1219 a fridge for another swap with the name Shannon on it. Confused yet? Anyway, thanks again to Karla, everything seems to be straighten out and all swaps have a fridge.

Part of the problem is that there are alot of ongoing swaps at POP and, apparently, if they don't find the fridge you are looking for quickly, they will give you a different one-from a swap that is over, or one that is still on going. In order to make sure we keep getting the right fridge, here's what you need to know, for now :

Our fridge is white, 20.5L x 18.75W x 19.5H, with green mickey heads on the box. Also the box says Box 1 of 2 on it;
There is an additional box that says Box 2 of 2, containing a toaster, thanks to shannon1219 ;
The coffee pot is gone;
The box will have your name, ressie #, and check-in date on it.

When you put the labels on the boxes, put them on the side, AND (this is new) put an additional label inside the fridge box in case anything happens to the outside label.

Also, since shannon1219 was going to take a picture of our box, for me, but she had a different swaps fridge, so it won't be the right one. Anyone going over the next few weeks, if you could take a picture of the box, then I will have it for reference, and can post it on our FAQ. Thanks!

Once again, thanks Karla for all your hard work straightening this out, we are back on track!

Quick question -- how big is box #2? I have a coffeemaker -- Mr Coffee 4 cup programmable - NIB -- box is 10" X 7" X 7" -- think it will fit into either of the other 2 boxes? I'll also leave filters.

Wendy, The box would not be big enough for the coffee maker. The toaster is in its original box and is then placed in a plain brown box (just a tad bigger than the toaster box). Unless you created a whole new box for it to go into, I would be afraid of having 3 boxes for this swap. One of the other swaps that I ended up working on, had a large box that the fridge and coffee maker fit into just fine. The box was about 3 ft tall but it fit perfectly on the fridge. Maybe someone could find a box that the fridge would fit into and then the toaster and coffee pot could be added into it. On the safe side, I would still label everything (just incase it got seperated)..

On our list we have Aug 25-27th available. However, the swapper who is getting it on the 27th actually is willing to do an in-person swap in the a.m. of 8/28. So, if you would like to use it for 3 nights, AND will do an in-person swap on the 28th, we would be happy to have you join in. Let me know.

FYI, also, depending on when the swapper leaving on the 25th is leaving (a.m. or p.m.) it may be possible to get the fridge on the evening of the 24th. This would be completely up to that swap though.
