Hi gang,
I survived the first day and i swear they tried to kill me!!!

CR-I'm sending you good wishes for tomorrow,which is actually today since its after midnight.

They put us thru hell today,o ofcourse as it was over they had to say," since we got the little things out of the way the real hard work starts tomorrow". insert scared,puking smile here.

On a side note, my lower back is killing me and my left knee is swollen,but i will live and be fine. The first day they line us all up,since this class is 50% physical and 50% book work. We got the once over, so the cic(commander in charge) is looking at everyone in formation and saying get a haircut, polish your shoes, you need to shave closer on your face(that was to a girl,btw) and tells this one to lose x amount of weight and that one to do that and he gets to me, he tells me to lose 20 pounds by july but to shoot for 30. Now i know i have a gut,i know its a big belly but this guy the cic had me beat by at least 100 pounds if not more.

One cool new addition is the collapse room at the FDNY academy,basiclly they can take this huge room and move the celing up or down and move the beams sideways, so it resembles a building collapse, it even has furniture, appliances,everything a normal house has,and if that was not cool enough, they even have a real nyc mock train station,complete with real nyc subway cars and tracks. We went over some escape methods today in the train car,if we ever get trapped in a subway car. I learned how to operate the trains hydralic doors with out power or hydralic fluid. So thats it, im beat and tried and going to bed,one a side note we had lunch with the #1 man in the FDNY, the chief of the whole dept. He talked to us about what we expected to gain from this training and since we all have real street time,if there were any ideas on training that we would like to see done or any training that we felt the dept should start to do.Already day 1 and one guy was kicked out, the class started at 3pm on the dot,we were all told be there in uniform and look your best. So it was not surprising when some guy walked in at 6:30 and used the excuse he over slept, that got him kicked right out. We all had off yesterday,everyone in the program.

Tink - Sounds like the interview went well....BUT I have to say, I might agree with your mom.....I know oh so many people who dropped a class or two to work, to get married, to have kids...& just never got around to finishing those up. I know the experience would be awesome! But any company that devalues your education might not be one you want to work for. I would try to see if there was anyway they could work out something for you now so you could finish. Surely you're more "valuable" to them with a completed degree than not. If you decide to take the job & not finish...I will make sure to stay on your behind in the fall!!!!! Tell you mom your DIS friends will make sure you finish!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice! I tossed and turned all night debating and decided if I am offered the postion to NOT take it. You are right, school is just too important.

Hi gang,
The weather is stinky here. I have a 1 hour drive to the FDNY academy today,but with the weather i'm leaving 2 and a half hours early. Btw everything hurt, everything! I will live. Alright i got to get going, have a great day all. Dw asked me this am, that if i make the final cut and graduate in november , what do i want as my grad gift? Can you guess what where i said i wanted to go for a grad gift??? I give you all a hint it's in florida and the hotel has a pop in the name.
