Mrfdny is checking in,i'm still here!!!.I just broke a record!!!! I have been awake for over 30 hours straight!!!! I'm about to fall on my face,but awake i shall fall!!! Actually I just got in from work, i did a special 2 day training thing at the FDNY academy which was yesterday and today(tuesday and wednesday)from 7am to 3pm,then i went in to the fire house for a little overtime.I just got home and boy i am beat!!!!!!So how is everyone doing,i did some really cool things at the fire academy today.I got to repel off a 14 story building,then They take you and put you in a dark house,its basicly a real house in the pitch black dark,you can't see a single thing,not even the hand in front of your face.As you enter room to room you have to use your sense of feeling to figure out what room your in and try to get into the next room and out of the house(bedroom,batroom,closet,etc) remember in a fire or black out there might be no light and you would have to use this for real,maybe your flashlight might not work or die,I could figure out every room but one.I spent a long time in thier,but gave up.Everything i felt i had no idea what it was,It turned ouit that this room was being used in this simulation house as a meth lab.
Then while in the house,remember this is with all your gear on,including you scuba gear/mask,fresh pure air,they light the room on fire and clog it with thick black smoke.The fire is literaly only 6 to 12 inches above your head and you do this on your hands and knees.Next the smoke will turn different cloros,certain colored smoke,means that certain materials are burning,you have to tell them what you think is on fire from the color of the smoke.There were a lot more,but one thing that amazed me is the fact that i was trained like macgyver would do.Then put me on a real nyc mta subway car in a tunnel and cut the power off of the subway car,you can't change cars and are told you have to get out using the subway car doors with out breaking thru them or causing any damage to the door.Well i learned how to esacaped a subway car,many different ways.One way was to open the subway door control box,locatied in every subway car and use my portable radio's battery and hot wire it to the subways car door controls and use the power from it to open the door as if the subway car had power.We did this on real nyc trains and it really does work!I can even tell you where every train car's emergency door release is in any model of train in nyc.Anyway thats all and i'm gonna call it a night and go pass out have a great day all!!
