I've heard of the Every Flavored Beans, being an HP fan but ewwwww... I'm only going to try them at WWHP. Some of them I probably won't hate but most, I think I will. Yuck.
You might be surprised to find out how much of what we like is just in our minds, and NOT in our mouths.
There's a famous diet where you are supposed to pull your finger a certain way and it triggers mental pictures that you temporarily implanted into your brain, and the memories are memories that you previously created of things like maggots, earth worms, roaches, and barber shop hair. I'm NOT making this up. Its a BIG TIME diet that was on TV a while back. We actually did it for quite a while, and it works. Anyways you train your brain to get "grossed out" with a simple hand gesture so that you can stop yourself from overeating.
The point is with this gesture, you trigger these nasty food thoughts, and whatever you are holding (thats SOOOOOOOOO good) suddenly isn't as good anymore.
I am amazed how many people that I meet at Epcot in the Club Cool who try the Beverly and HATE IT, and remark about how GROSS it is, who I have been able to convince otherwise. Its one of my little Disney pleasures.
I watch someone get all grossed out over it and I politely walk up beside them and get a cup of it and smile and drink it and say "I love this stuff!"
They then say WHAT??? And I kinda reprogram their brain by saying "OK, your looking at it all wrong. First, before you try it again, think to yourself that this is a flavor that is sold to MILLIONS of people, and it is. Thats true. Next think bitter CAN be good, and it CAN. Then think of a cold lemonade and sprite mixed together. Now take another taste and think "Not so bad".
Most of the time, IF I can get them to try it again, they will agree that it's not that bad if they think ahead of time that its SUPPOSED to be bitter, and bitter CAN taste good. Many of them will actually get a third cup full and walk away amazed that they like it. No joke. My sig is true.
A lot of what we perceive as nasty is influenced by packaging and where / when / who.
Have you ever picked up a cup of coffee and took a sip THINKING it was going to be Iced Tea??? You probably nearly sprayed it. It wasn't what you were expecting.
Those flavors are CHEMICALS and FLAVORINGS, and there is NO PEAR in juicy pear! Its all flavorings. The gross flavors are the same flavorings, and if you try to pick out the sweet flavor or just the salty, they suddenly are good.
At least thats how it works for me.
