I just noticed Pop Warner football will be going on a few days during our December trip. We're there Dec 9 - 18, and I think they're scheduled through the 10th.

Anybody been at WDW while they're scheduled? Did you notice a problem with crowds at the parks or at the hotels (we'll be ataying at ASMovies)?

TIA for all your help-
Mel :wave2:

I wouldn't worry about it too much since you only overlap with them for a day or two. You will notice them most probably at the pool and food court and if you have to share buses with them. During the day at the parks you don't see too many groups, they come out mainly at night. I wouldn't spend my whole trip with them again, but I wouldn't stress about an overlap of a day or two.

I wouldn't worry too much if its only a couple of days, our trip last Dec. coincided for just about the entire Pop Warner week
We definately noticed them in the parks, mainly the cheerleaders as there are so many :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: --as a matter of fact our first night ever to MK was ruined at the end of the day by a group ..not cheerleaders, but football players.

What was not nice about what I said? There was not one mean thing said in what I posted! It was not slamming them, we did not have a good experience on our first night, so what was that for??? :confused3 :confused3
I posted my opinion, I think maybe this might be a touchy subject for some on the boards!

The only real problem I have ever had is the fact that some of these groups (including Pop Warner) seem to think it's okay to stand outside of your building screaming at the top of their lungs "practicing" at 6:30AM, and Disney doesn't care. If Disney is going to host these large groups who need space to practice they need to find some place where it isn't going to disturb sleeping guests.

I don't think Disney would allow my family to stand outside and scream at the top of my lungs, singing and screaming at the crack of dawn - so I have never understood why it's okay for huge groups to do so. I'm not begrudging their need to do this, but they need a better place than a few feet from the rooms of 100's of other sleeping, paying guests.

I've been there during Pop Warner week and will be going again this year. Most of the time we didn't notice them, (we don't stay at the allstars/pop/and sometimes they spill over into the moderates) but one night at MK there were many groups of them.
For the most part, they were well behaved.
Our only problems were: Line cutting - one holds the spot and 15 jump in
and one night about 10 kids were chasing each other and almost knocked my dd over when they ran into her.
We left MK and headed over to Epcot and had a great rest of the night.
One night they close a park early for just PopWarner kids (usually MGM)

Calm down!!! I wasn't directing the "be nice" comment to you!!! Pop Warner threads tend to "get out of control"!!! So I was just making a general comment!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

We were there during approximately the same time frame two years ago, and I would concur with what others are saying. Generally, it isn't noticable, but you do occasionally encounter a group that makes one glad that adolescence was long ago and far away. We went through the Haunted Mansion with such a group, and couldn't hear the ride. After that, we made it a point to give them a wide berth, as we had two 18-month old children with us and really didn't need any further annoyances. We proceeded to have a wonderful time the remainder of our vacation...
EDIT: Let me also say that though we have found that second week of December generally less crowded than the third, and had a wonderful time, if I had my druthers I would probably choose a different week...

I have been there twice during Pop Warner weeks. At All Star Music. Did we notice them at the hotel and in the parks. Yes. Was it a problem? Not for me. I haven't had one single bad experience with these kids. :flower:

Myst

Dec 4 - 10 ???? That's exactly when we're going.

Please tell me, what is pop warner week??????

A WHOLE BUNCH of cheerleaders cheering everywhere all the time. Ready? OK!

Please tell me, what is pop warner week??????

Oh, dear. Pop Warner is a youth football organization. They hold their championship at Wide World of Sports in December. They have programs for kids from 5-16. When they gather in unsupervised masses they can create chaos and noise that offends many.

They also have a cheerleading component and, from what I've read, the girls are more vocal and disruptive when not properly supervised.

If you are staying at Disney's value or moderate resorts you will notice their presence. Your experience may be good or bad, but you will have an experience to relate. We've overlapped with them before and rarely noticed them in the parks (stayed at AKL).

Search this forum for "Pop Warner." For fun go to the last pages and find the locked threads. When the DISers start getting rowdy enough to lock a thread it's heated.
