Pop-Ups

I have 2 popup blockers- the Yahoo toolbar pop up blocker, and one from my cable interenet provider...When I go and clean out the blocked popups, the yahoo one has gotten abotu 99% of them, and then the few straglers the other one gets. maybe 1x a week I'll have 1 slide through, but not often at all...

I have the Yahoo toolbar pop up blocker too and can vouch for how well it works.. My son-in-law's computer is AWFUL - barely useable due to the pop ups and I can't get him to use the Yahoo.. In two months I think I've gotten 3 or 4 pop ups that snuck through - he has HUNDREDS an hour!

Hey Brandy - how do you clean that out though? Was wondering about that yesterday.

I recently upgraded my virus scan software to "Norton Internet Security 2005", and life is GOOD!

There are settings to block various kinds of internet traffic (and it blocks unwanted pop ups).

IMHO, this software ROCKS, and has given control of my computer back to me. I was spending much more time than I liked fighting off adware and pop ups before.

Stop using IE and switch to Mozilla Firefox. It is free, no pop-up's, no error codes, no problems at all.

I have to agree with that. We've had a HORRIBLE Time with pop-ups and lately our Spy Sweeper and Ad-Ware (both the pay versions too) say there are NO problems, but we are still getting the pop-ups, and not very nice ones at that! So, we've switched to Firefox. It's not the best, and some sites don't work with Firefox, but most are fine. In the few instances where the site won't load with Firefox, I will open IE and deal with the pop-ups.

Click on the pop up thing on the tool bar- then go to "total pop ups blocked" (mines at 770 LOL) ...then it will say "reset total blocked to zero?" just click yes.

I dont know if it does anything, but I like to see how many I get in a week's time just for giggles!

I agree with Dan. We have both of those, and I have not had a popup in a couple of years.
