Anybody know of any companies still delivering pop-ups or hybrids to FW? Florida Camper Rental doesn't have them any more. The only company that I can find that has pop-ups is Meacham's but their prices are outrageous! ($700 for 3 days!) Thanks

FLMom79, I have not seen any other vendor that rents pop-ups now that Fort Camper Rental is no longer offering them. Meacham's offers a hybrid in their Small Package which is $700 for 3 nights. That is high but only $50 a day more after that and then it levels off as you approach a weekly rental. Given they are based in Bradenton, FL it's over a 100 miles each way for them to tow a trailer to FW so the cost is in getting it there and back. That drives the initial cost - incremental cost (once it's there) is more reasonable.

It looks like smaller travel trailers from other vendors may be cheaper. Is there a reason you asked specifically about hybrids or popups?

Thanks Bama Ed. Honestly, I was looking specifically for a pop-up because I was trying to be cheap and stay on one of the tent / pop-up sites. We're looking at going in May, but it'll be a short trip, so I was thinking it would be nice not to mess with setting up the tent. But when you rent a full hook-up site plus even a small camper, you're real close to the cost of renting a cabin!

Ah. I see what you are trying to do.

Disney will set up one of their rental tents for you on a site. The cost is something like $30 a night and will also rent a cot for about $5 each if you don't want to sleep on the ground. At least if you were willing to do your own tent or willing to pay for a small camper, renting a Disney tent/cot might be a middle ground. Only thing is the tents they are using now will only fit 3 folks/cots and even that is pushing it. Without cots you might be able to fit four on the floor. At least that way you could still get the Tent campsite which is the least expensive type in the Fort.

But as you say for a short trip you don't have to mess with the set-up and take-down if you do a rental tent. Disney does the set-up and take-down for you.

Here are the current rental tents. I took these pictures over at the Creekside Meadow Group Campsite past 2000 loop in 2014.

This brochure has the tent/cot cost right in the middle.

Of course, prices might have gone up over the last 2 years. :rolleyes1

Great thinking Ed! I totally forgot FW rents tents. That might actually be a great way to go for us. My parents are renting a cabin, so we can pretty much do our eating and hanging out over there. Definitely something to consider. Thanks again! Can't wait to get back to FW. We are relative newbies, but we've been there for a few days each October / early November for the past 4 years. We've done cabin, pop-up, full-sized camper, and tent. We absolutely love it.

You have to have 10 posts before you can upload a profile pic (called an Avatar). Once you get to 10 posts, give it about an hour to let things update, then click on your user name at the top right side of the Camping Board and choose the "Avatar" option and it will guide to how to upload.

That's for the avatar picture - there are two ways for regular pics. At the bottom of the thread is an "Upload a File" button and you can choose it and select a graphics file in an allowed format (jpg, png, etc) and upload it and choose the "Full Size" option button (not "Thumbnail", please). The new upload option became available about a year ago with the DIS had a major software upgrade.

The old way (which I used for the pictures above) was to copy the IMG link for these images which I stored on photobucket. Since that's where the picture is, that's how I included it.

Either one works. (long answer for those who are reading and are new to the DIS).

PS - You didn't say how many people will be in the tent but the Kodiak Canvas Tent website says that tent appears to be 10 feet square (10x10) as fyi.
