I just recently switched from AOL, which had a pop-up blocker, to another internet provider. Apparently, Internet Explorer doesn't come with any form of software to remove pop-ups. Are there any legit pop-up blockers out there I can either download to my computer or purchase? TIA!:surfweb:

try a new browser.

"Mozilla Firefox" and the one I use, "Maxthon" both have great built in popup blockers. And they are both FREE downloads.

Good luck.

Click on Tools. The drop down list has the pop up blocker option. Highlight it and you'll see turn on pop up blocker.

Webmaster Alex once recommended Google's free pop-up blocker. It works great. :thumbsup2

I didnt know IE has a pop-up blocker either.

I have two words for you -- mozilla firefox.

Great browser, and I NEVER get pop-ups.

Internet Explorer is total crap. Crashes, pop-ups, mysterious bugs, and IE's own "pop ups" every ten seconds ("Are you sure you want to enter personal information", "did you notice the search bar", "are you sure you want to load this page" and other nonsense).

I don't have problems with any of these. Maybe because it's a newer version?

Yeah - but because so many people USE IE, many things wont run on Mozilla...for instance the program I use at work to 'shadow' users....they have to use IE. KWIM?

I haven't found a lot of things that don't work on IE. I have both on my computer, so if I have a site that won't work correctly, I just switch for IE. To put things in perspective, in the last year, I have probably hat to use IE about four or five times! Definitely, if you have something at work that only works on IE, you have to use IE ... (*&##*@&) ! I just haven't found it to be a problem *at all*!

I do think for people who are having some frustrations with IE, giving mozilla firefox a trial run is a great idea ... if they don't like it, well so be it. For me, it really resolved a lot of problems I was having with IE.

Obviously, anyone who is not having any problems at all with IE (like rie-'s mom, apparently (?)) are fine -- why mess with a new browser?

I tend to strongly recommend it because it was the solution to *many* intractable problems I was experiencing with IE several years ago. And once I started using the new browser, I really warmed to it right away. It just seemed much more user-friendly, simple, and problem free than IE.
