Pop-up ads making this site unusable

I know it's been a problem for awhile but I can't find any solutions - I use an ad blocker and I don't see any "wide screen" option to click on the "bottom left" of the page. I'm almost loathe to try reading or posting here anymore because of it. I don't have this issue on any other site I visit.

Please see the post above as linked by @Karin1984. I made the adjustment suggested last week (switched to wide mode) and have had no problems since then.

The Technical Support board is a great place to check or note if you are facing any technical challenges while using DISboards.

@Selket You can find "wide" mode here:

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, where you can't go any further.
Look at the bottom left corner and you may see this:

If you have a white background, most likely it says "Default" as pictured above. It might say "Medium Mode" if you have a light gray background or "Dark Mode" if you have a black background.

Click the paintbrush and change it to "Wide" which looks just like default and (at least for me) I see no other difference but it does seem to stop some of the crazy ads that pop in at weird places.

Personally, I prefer the Medium Mode with a gray background. It's easier on my eyes than the bright white. What I have done at times is switch to Wide for a day and then switch it back to Medium. Whatever change occurs with the ads seems to stick at least for a few weeks. If I start having problems again, I switch back to Wide for a few hours and then back to Medium.

Oh my goodness - this is the help I needed! Thank you SO much for the screen shots. I had to battle through constant pop-ups and re-directs to just scroll down the page but I got it so I'm hoping that works!

I read through the tech board posts about this issue and still couldn't find the wide mode @scrappinginontario - and I posted over there and people just say find the blue bar. When you're trying to find that blue bar and you keep getting pop-ups and redirected to another website it's hard to do.

Please feel free to close this topic and it would be great to have @lanejudy 's post over there with the screen shots stickied so people can immediately find it. Maybe some people need to see it visually as it really helped me.

It's started happening again - the full screen pop-up ads that make it hard to use this website. I've double checked that I'm still set to "wide" - any other suggestions? I'm on a MacBook and have pop-ups blocked. I don't have this issue with any other website.

While it affects functionality, I find that turning off Javascript gets rid of all the pop ups.
