I'm sorry, but I just do not understand.
I've seen many pictures, and some talk of it, but I just do not understand what is going on with it.
Like, I do not understand why it's not completed, I mean.
Are they currently working on it? Has construction been paused? Shut-down completely?
And if so .. why? I can't imagine it could be lack of funds, because it's Disney, so I just do not understand.
I'm sorry for what is probably a very silly question, but I'd just like to understand what is happening with it.

Right now, nothing is happening.

Construction was halted after 9/11 because of the fall off in tourism. It wouldn't have made sense to have it open and empty all the time.

Now with attendance back up, the rooms would be used, so construction may restart at some point in the near future. However, the rumor is that they are trying to determine whether or not to build some or all of the rooms as family suites instead of regular rooms.

At this point they might as well demolish all the buildings and start fresh. Have you seen the video on youtube that someone made, where they actually walked over there, INTO ONE OF THE ROOMS! It looked DISGUSTING! Knowing myself how overgrown all the grass is, and how it's been sitting there for over 5 years untouched, I wouldn't even want to stay there!

What I don't understand, is how they have the time and money, and attendance, to add new things to other resorts, ie The Contemporary's new wing. But they can't complete something they started YEARS ago? I'm guessing because it's a value resort, they figured why even bother.

There was a thread on this awhile ago, and some stated construction was halted due to a problem with the contractor or something. Sounds like there was a lawsuit involved...I can't remember all the details, but there is an article floating around here somewhere.

Someone, correct me if I am wrong.
