The dirty floors were my big issue with the refurbished room we stayed in in November. It was gross. The soles of our socks are still grey even after repeated washings. Disney should consider putting slippers in the rooms like they do for the club levels. LOL. If a mop and bucket were easy to put in my suitcase, I'd do it. It's interesting to me that they are using a Swiffer to clean these rooms (I had assumed the floors were not cleaned at all between guests). I used to clean my house (floors and ceiling fans) with a Swiffer. After a few months I noticed an increase in dust. I switched to a dustbuster and mop, and the dust buildup improved. Maybe a Swiffer is not always the best cleaning method.

I was a bit annoyed about the 4 hour pickup for DME also. We are Clear members and TSA precheck. We did not need an additional hour at the airport. We already have too much time there. That said, we traveled the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and the regular lines were really, really long. I can't imagine TSA was turning anyone away who was traveling within the next 3 hours. I felt less annoyed after I saw that line and instead felt thankful I was able to grab a Starbucks and relax for an hour. The TSA line looked longer than any line we waited in at Disney World!

I also agree with your opinion of the new floors. I have only seen housekeeping using a dry Swiffer on the floor, and they really need a wet Swiffer at minimum. It is hard to do a job when they don't give you the right tools.

That's gross. Swiffer products are useless. They just push the dirt & dust around and don't actually do an effective cleaning job. What happened to the vacuums they were using when the floors were carpeted?

I wouldn't assume that what 1 guest has seen is ALL they do. Not saying I know one way or another just saying I wouldn't put any stock on it.

If you are referring to my observation of the dry Swiffer only, I haven’t seen anything on the cart to clean by another method either. I don’t doubt that they have a limited capability to deep clean via a mop or other wet cleaner in the event there is a “ protein spill” or something of that nature. But for the everyday procedures I haven’t seen any evidence of anything other than the dry Swiffer. I was actually in the room on five different occasions when housekeeping came, and on one of those they only Swiffered the bathroom area, not the main room. The other times, they dry Swiffered the entire room. They never offered to mop or vacuum or clean the floor in any other way.

Of course I can’t comment on what they do between guests, other than to attest to dirty socks the first night of my first stay in a refurbished room. Hence the flip flops.

It may be that they have different procedures at different resorts, and since you mentioned you prefer not to stay at value resorts, you may not have encountered this situation. I do not recall having this issue when I stayed at BWV in a room with hard floors. My socks and feet stayed clean. But after a total of 22 nights at Pop in a refurbished room, I can confirm the floors are an issue at this particular resort. It’s not enough to keep me from staying there because there are many pros to the new rooms. But it feels like an unnecessary annoyance when it could be easily solved.

Note to self...'bring slippers'!! That's so gross. I almost reconsidered going back to Pop after rewarding this. We had a wonderful experience at Pop on our last trip which is why I booked it again. I hope to have another great stay.

We just came back from a split stay 5 days POP/5 days POR. We did this for budget reasons. I asked for a refurbed room for health reasons - my sister is a bad asthmatic (and it had started acting up on the plane) and she does better with hard floors. We were given a refurbed room but it only had a shower, not a tub. Maybe a handicapped room? I think we were the first ones to ever use the room. We loved it and I liked the “clean” look about it, but then again, I work in an hospital. Coffee maker was much appreciated but the coffee was very weak. Luckily, I had brought some instant Starbucks.

We found the bus system very good. The food court was limited compared to POR. I don’t like the outside decor of POP, but the price is right. I would stay there again if it was one or two people. Oh, and loved all the plug-ins and USB ports.

I haven't tried the makers in these rooms yet but can you not control the amount of water used for each cup? Or are they hard wired in like in an office and use preset amounts of water?

Ah, ok. I figured you could. That's how I make the coffee stronger. I mean, I like shots of espresso in my coffee, so clearly I like my coffee strong. Plus, I drink it black. When at Disney, I use their provided coffee but don't put a full cup of water in the makers. Probably 3/4, maybe 2/3. Works well. Not ideal mind you but well enough and one less thing to have to pack and drag with me on my trips. And means I can use whatever version makers are in the rooms. Since they aren't all the same.
