Pop room noise?

I'm wondering if I should pack our white noise machine for our stay at Pop next week.

I use it in my daughter's room at home only early am so the birds and the trash men don't wake her up, and at naptime. She doesn't need it to sleep through the night.

If we need to drown out noise during her nap, or if we're in a noisy location will the bathroom fan work, or would we be better off with a white noise machine?

I'd love not to pack it, space in the suitcase is very tight.

Honestly Pop is a VERY noisy resort..... the walls are paper thin and you can hear all kinds of noise , toliet flushing, doors slamming and kids running up and down the corridors.... I'd pack it.

I swear!!!!!-I am staying at a hotel right now (10:30pm)-who are these parents that let their kids run up and down the halls incessantly????
I feel like the crabby old lady who keeps calling the front desk and yelling out my door...
Gotta go-there goes another one:headache:

Sorry I am no help, OP. We stay at POP one month from tomorrow:banana: and I am curious about the noise too!!

I have to agree. POP is pretty noisy. We got lucky with our room, we were in the 50's top floor facing a quiet parking lot, so we did not hear alot of outside commotion. However, when a family moved into the room next door to us, we could hear everything they said and did. And I do mean EVERYTHING:scared:

We were just there and I didn't find it too noisy. We were in a 50s building on the first floor behind the pool/laundry and we didn't here too much at all. Maybe it was because the weather was cool and so no one was at the pool really late or I was just so danged tired that I went right to sleep!

Has anyone stayed at Pop and one of the AS resorts? Is the noise much better at an AS resort compared to Pop?

We were there in Feb and I specifically asked for a "quiet" room in my fax room request. 50's building, top floor (so no little feet above me), facing the lake (so I could see Ecpot fireworks :)...we got everything we wanted and it was quiet...except for the doors slamming and the occassional toilet flush, but those are things you get just about anywhere. I also wore earplugs at night so I could be rested. I didn't want to be near a pool or near the main lobby where all the food, etc. is because those places are going to have more traffic. I am the light sleeper, DH and DD can sleep through ANYTHING. While the 50's building is a little further from the main hall & transpo, for me, it was worth being able to get a good nights sleep

I have stayed at.....POP (4 times), BWV (6), Polynesian (1), ASMusic (1), POR (2) CR (1) S/D (2), BCV (1). The worst noise? Polynesian!!! For our one stay we had our neighbors change twice...two different families in the room next door. Both times it was incredible how loud they were. And the kids running up and down those interior hallways, banging on doors was unbelievable.
Now, I haven't had noisy neighbors at any of my villa stays. Music was fine, but I faced the rear of the bldg (Jazz). CR was tough to call since we were there during a hurricaine, so things were a bit frantic anyway.
POP? I have been in...50's (third floor way to the end of bldg 2), 50's (ground floor toward the back of bldg 1), 80's (ground level facing lake/parking lot) and 60's (fourth level, facing lake, bldg 4) and I have yet to have any noise near me. I may have gotten lucky but I have had some of my quietest stays at POP.
Sorry but toilet flushing is going to be heard at all resorts. Foot traffic will depend on room placement..if you are close to an elevator you will have more noise than rooms further away. The walls are not paperthin at POP. I have heard this before and just don't understand it. If you are in a room that connects to the next door room, then yes, you will have more noise but that is due to those connecting doors, not the walls. Again, maybe I've been lucky in my 15+ trips, but outside of that room at the Polynesian, I have never had any reason for complaints.

The noise is horrible! The kids running late at night is the worst. All of it echos and I did not like all that noise!

All Star Movies was much quieter and we overlooked the quieter pool!

To the OP - There is no "fan". That is what we were hoping for, because we run ours at night to sleep also. The fan in the bathroom is a timer fan and only runs for a certain time. I was constantly getting up throughout the night to turn it back on:headache: We definetly plan on bringing a sound machine this year.

I have stayed at POP once and am staying again in a month. I have also styed all All Star Sports and Movies. I guess i have a different opinion because i dont really find them to be that noisy. I need it to be quiet for me to be able to sleep and i have never had a problem at the Value's. Maybe i am too exhausted to notice.

Thank you for the info on the fan! That would not work for us either, the whole point is to not have to get up......lol

It sounds like hit or miss with the noise. The only request I made with our reservation was a quiet room, I specifically mentioned our toddler would be taking naps.

Last year we had a perfect spot at FQ with the same request, a backside of a building close to the main building with little foot traffic. We would have hated the front side of that same building because everyone had to walk by to get to the food court and buses.

I'll pack the sound machine this trip, it will be well worth it if we get noisy neighbors!!

We have stayed at POP a number of times and at ASMu once. I thought the noise level was the same at both. Depends on the location of your room. Typically it is relatively quiet with a few door slams and the sound of suitcases being pulled down the halls. Last time we were there they put us near a parking lot, but right next to the main area where trams with laundry carts are brought in and out. Many times we heard the banging of bins as the tram pulled in or out. We always bring our sound machine and put it on white noise, which helps a bunch. The bathroom fan is on a timer so don't count on using that.

We requested a quiet location and got it. We were in building B close to the end and it wasn't very noisy and we came in on a Saturday night.

Sounds (humor) like the noise level is dependent on whether or not you have kids running around like wild animals. Where are those parents ??!!! :dance3:

LOL exhausted from pushing them in strollers all day, 10 feet behind them trying to muster the energy to tell them to stop running, only to decide against it and just get to the darn room!!!!

:goodvibes

We stayed at POP in August 2007 and were on the 1st floor of building 1 in the '50's area right by the ice machines and stuff and we did not hear any noise...not from the pipes, outside or above us...I guess maybe it depends on which area you stay...

I have reservations at POP this September for two weeks (YEAH). In previous years, I have always stayed at Coronado Springs. I am a little concerned if it is worth saving a few bucks to stay at POP. Coronado has the three different bus pickups, nice property and the wonderful food at the Pepper Market.

FYI... we are staying at POP for two weeks for just a little more than it costs to stay at CS for one!!!

:rolleyes1

I have stayed at both, and I (personally) like POP better. You are close to the food court no matter where your room is. You are close to a big pool no matter where your room is. The POP food court has great selections too. But I was not crazy about the Pepper Market, and did not like having to take a bus to get to it because my room was so darn far away!
Yes the rooms are a bit smaller, there is only one bus stop, and there are giant fun colorful icons everywhere! I love it. Also, it seems like you get to the parks faster on the busses because it does not stop another three times before going to the parks. You load up. You leave. ten minutes later you are unloading. It is great. The price is great too. Go into it with an open mind, and loving that it is a good deal, and it will be perfect for you.

Being someone who travels a lot ... and who stays at a pendulum swing of hotels that range from frightening to hallowed - noise is noise is noise. It all depends on the folks around you on that given week. Some of the most expensive and posh hotels I've stayed at have proved to be ridiculously noisy based on a family with little to no manners. At the same time, my most recent stay at POP was wonderfully quiet!!
If you take the white noise machine, know in advance that you may find it stays packed away and it's not needed. Alas, you could be roomed next to the Bad News Bears playing their final inning in a nightcap. Bottom line though, don't blame it on POP.
One suggestion I strongly make -- call Disney now, speak to the manager at POP -- tell them of your concerns (or, go to Customer Service on the Disney website and type in your concerns). As we all know, Disney is great about accommodating needs and desires -- tell them it would be amazingly helpful to have access to some form of "white noise" ... whether a sound machine or a fan ... I bet the results will be wonderful.
