NO, not the candy- the hotel. :) We just got back from a week at Pop Centruy (it was our first time there) and it was AMAZAING! The food was awesome, the buses were so convenient, the atmosphere was so fun, and everything was perfect! We stayed in the 50s. From now on, this will be our Disney hotel! Loved it!!! If anyone has questions, feel free to ask! :cool1:

I stayed there in November and I really enjoyed it too! I paid extra for preferred back then, so I was in the 60's building. However, I decided not to do that next time once I saw how close everything was (I just booked another stay at Pop for October!), so I requested the 50's building this time.

Glad you enjoyed your trip! :Pinkbounc

Glad to hear you had a great time at Pop. :cool1: We will be staying there for the first time this fall- we think we'd like to stay in the 70's section.

How was check-in? Did it take long? That is about the only thing I worry about. We will be checking in at "prime time"- around 2-3 pm- and I hope it doesn't take forever.

You will have a great time at Pop. Check-in took us above 3 minutes. We checked in at about 4:00pm on a Sunday afternoon. I hope you have a great trip!

We were at Pop for 12 nights over the past 2 weeks.

I wasn't as impressed this time with the food court as I was last time.

- Hours say open until midnight, yet after 10:30, only 2 sections were opening, and after 11:00, just the pizza which was really bad.

- Who was the engineer who decided to put hurricane force fans above the entrance to the outside doors so when you walk out with your tray, your napkins and plates blow all over the place? :confused3

- I got sundaes on 2 nights. First time, it melted by the time I got through the registers. Second time, I brought a spoon so it wouldn't happen again, but the sundae was gone by the time I got to the cashier.

Considering I was in bed everynight by 10:30, I wasn't aware of their early closing hours. Thats not good that they advertise being open until midnight, yet not everything is open until midnight. I am sorry to hear about that.

HAHA! I wasn't the only one who noticed the hurricane fan that blows when you open the doors. It never blew any of my stuff away, but I can see your point. I wondered why it did that as well.

Well, I hope you have a better time at Pop next time. Maybe I just got really lucky! :)

LOL... :) I thought I was the only one who noticed it! I believe the other value resorts are like that too, if I can remember it correctly. I got smart, I put the napkins under the plate, so it won't blow away...but my hair was blowing everywhere. People would think I just had a cat fight with someone! And I can't fix it cause I was holding the tray.

Miranda Danda, glad you enjoyed your stay at POP! It's our favorite value resort now. But ASMo will always have a place in my heart.

We are going to be there in OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!! I simply cannot wait! I think those fans are to help in keeping bugs OUT of the food areas...kind of makes sense to me.
:)

Are there any recommendations for our stay at POP? We have 7 adults and 5 children staying there (3 rooms). We know we will request a refrigerator for at least one of the rooms for milk and other necessary items. One of the children is Asthmatic (sp?) would this qualify for a refrigerator at n/c? Obtaining doctor paperwork would not be a problem I don't think.

About the hurricane-force winds: Next time, duck through the gift shop and go out the other entrance/exit. I hated those fans!!!

Hmmmm..... good point there. That makes a lot of sense to me. I was wondering why we needed more hurricanes here in Florida ;)

Yes, that is what they are for. I will be staying there again in 52 more days..just got back last Wed. I always ask for the 50's great section near the food court. :Pinkbounc

So glad to hear you had a good time. WE stayed there a week last summer and LOVED it. We had a code this year and were booked at POP until we had the code but now we switched to WL. We actually hesitated to switch to WL though because we loved POP so much.

Glad to hear just great reviews. We head to the POP on June 25 for 7 days. We are anxiously awaiting our vacation.. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The fans at the LEGO store at DTD are hurricane- force as well. They literally blew my husband's sunglasses of his head!

The hours are that way at POR food court also. I did not try the pizza, but thought the hours seemed a little early??

I'm glad you had a great time! We just got back on Saturday from PoP. We were in the 50"s building too. It was just a short walk to the Classic Hall and the pools. We had a great time there too! We didn't have any problems with noise levels even though we were on the first floor.

UUUGGGHHHH .... this will be the first summer since 2000 that my family will not be going to WDW :(. After experiencing Pop Century this past summer, we want to go back so badly :guilty: It was exactly what we wanted in a hotel .... clean, bright, fun, with great cast members!

I'm hoping to get back maybe this upcoming winter....who know's!!??

We are going to stay at POP for our trip in June. CAN'T WAIT!! I know everyone prefers the '60's, but that's not really important to dh and me. What is the least preferred section to stay in? Is there a "bad" one? I know you can't pick, but can you make a request? Dh and I both loved the '80's, and we were kids in the '70's, so I think one of those would be the most fun for us. Is there a big reason NOT to get one of those buildings?

We'll be going back in June too (soon!) :cool1: . We stayed in the 70's last year, and were very happy. The 80's bldg. is fairly close to the bus stops (especially the "B" side), and has the "Computer" pool, but is not that close to the food court (if you weren't eating there often or did not want the mug refill program that may not matter). The 60's bldg. certainly looked fine and was near the food court and "Hippy Dippy" (flower) pool, but wasn't worth extra money for us. You can make a request, and hope they will do what they can to get the area you prefer. Have a good time! :wizard:

A note on the fans... I don't know the official purpose, but I've noticed that they are present on ALL doors (both guest areas and backstage areas) around food areas at all resorts. My GUESS is that they help keep flies out of the food areas.
