POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Here's what I know at the moment..

Building 6 = Lake facing 70's building (Mickey's Phone Icon)
Building 9 = Parking Lot facing 90's building (Sony Walkman Icon)

Building 6 was closed and work was completed there. I'm not sure if it ever opened to house guests after the refurb. As of this weekend - Building 6 remains closed for low-occupancy reasons. The only photos I've seen of the completed rooms were from Room 6458 in building 6.

Building 9 is also closed currently probably due to low-occupancy and probably because they are now working on that building.

So far - no refurb'd rooms are available for booking that I can see..

*I could be wrong* and even if I'm right today.. ALL of this can change tomorrow.

But if you were a guest arriving tonight at Pop Century - the only building for which the refurb has been completed is not available to house guests. (from the info available to me) This would explain why we haven't seen even ONE post of "Check out the new room we had at Pop Century" ...

:)

Thank you for the excellent info (as you know it)!

Did I see a couple of posts about refrigerators in Pop? Does this mean they will someday add refrigerators as part of the room and not an extra fee?

OK this is great for POP but I have to say when are they going to fix up FQ? I mean it's more expensive to stay there and they get the better tvs. I know that sounds kind of not so nice BUT people do spend more to stay at moderate and even more at deluxe and personally I feel its time to update FQ.

I just checked out of POP and we didnt get a new room :( but we did get a 50's room right by the pool! It was a nice experience.

You are not paying more or less based on the tv. Resorts that are moderates are charging more for: larger room, double sinks in the bathroom, pools with slides and hot tubs, frig standard in the room, lusher grounds and that sort of thing. If you want a newly redone moderate, you should check out CSR or CBR. They are both great resorts with new rooms. CSR has a very nice new, flat screened tv and queen beds. There is no way to really figure out a refurb schedule. If you want to feel better about the tv's at FQ, go check out the tv's in the Old Key West Studios. That's a DVC resort charging far more than a moderate room, and believe me, those tv's are a joke!

I just looked at the refurbished rooms at POP, on All Ears.

Wow, they look really nice.

It's just the 70's building where the rooms are refurbished, right? Not any other buildings? Where is the 70s building? Is it close to the main lobby and food court?

We are at Pop as I am writing this. We requested a 70's room and got one..only prob is, it's not refurbed yet. Someone on here said that the 70's bldgs are done. Not true. Maybe some are done but all the rooms I have peered in walking by are not done. They are presently working on the first floor on all the 80's bldgs. They just painted those rooms today.

Are you in the building with the Mickey Phone, or the Big Wheel? Only the Mickey Phone building is supposed to be done of the 70's I thought. And if so, are there people staying in that building?

any signs of work having been done on 60's yet?

oh, and have fun at Pop!

It is not about price or level, but when each is due for a regularly scheduled refurb. Resorts are refurbed about every 6 yrs - FQ was done in 2004/2005.

no, it was only stated that one building in 70's has been completed, and no one has known if anyone has been able to stay in any of the new rooms yet.

We just got back from POP. We stayed there Mar 6-8th in room 4330 in the 90's section. According to the maintenance guy we talked to, we were the first to stay in these new rooms! I thought the refurb was very nice. The tv was very nice and I liked the new furniture-the place seemed roomier.

please post some pictures!!!!

Here's what we've seen.

The entire 1st floor of 80's Bldg 9 is being done (walkman bldg).

We looked in Bldg 6 (Mickey phone bldg) and that was done. It doesnt look like anyone is staying in those rooms but we didn't really check that hard.

We are staying in 70's bldg 10 (big wheel bldg) and it is not done.

They seem to move quickly. They are doing exactly the same thing in each room at the same time. Pretty amazing. Even though we have just a 'regular room' it is in good condition and clean (except for the pile of dust on top the our entertainment center) but everything else is good.

We are leaving tomorrow. :(

We leave in 2 weeks... had requested 60's... but really would have liked to stayed in a refurbed room.

As for tvs... really, that doesn't phase me at all, flat screen or not. Don't even have a flat screen here at home.
POFQ - yes, really needs an upgrade there. Anxious to see what they do there. It's one of our favorite resorts, except for the rooms there!

Confused.... was it 90's? 4330 would be in the 60's Playdoh building. '90s would be building 8, so 8000 numbers. Which were you at...? and yes, pictures, please!

We arrived at POP last Wednesday (3/3) for a one-night stay, and I requested a refurbished room at check-in just to see what would happen. A manager came over and quickly granted the request and told me that we would love the updates. He put us in building 6 (6228) and he was right - we were impressed with the room. It was our first time at POP so I can't compare to the old room, but as I said, we were impressed!

The posts above jive with new info I got indicating that building 6 is now open to guests and some rooms in building 8 (or 9?) are also open to guests.
