POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

They will be doing the whole resort within 12-weeks amount of time - or in 12 weeks they will start the rest of the resort?

Wondering when they'll do 60's?
have requested poolside 60's for our late march trip - now we want 70's instead since it's redone (though wonder if we'd get it, surely everyone is requesting that now!)
So waiting to see when more updates are posted with what other buildings may be completed by our arrival date. Would be nice if 60's is done and can keep our original request we put down.

As for whether the 60's will be done in time for your trip - only way to know for sure is to ask at check-in...

Ah, shucks, with the new privacy curtain I don't get to have my Mac Gyver moment where I whip out two 3-M Command Hooks and a dollar store shower curtain and create a "Zone of Privacy."

The curved shower curtain will be wonderful for my tall and shoulder wide hubby and teenaged son!

I adore the soothing blue color on the walls.

Our toddler will love actually being allowed to walk on the carpet.

I will miss some of the space that came with the old dresser unit, between the top cubbies and the top of the unit itself, we could toddler proof the room pretty well. So, there will be a few Mac Gyver moments left for me after all.

I just love Pop.

Is there a list going of the sections that have been done as well as what will be done/when ???

We are going at the end of March ... We have not made a room request as of yet, do you think that we could just request a refurbished room and that way it would open us up to any refurbished room not just those in the 70's?

Again - ONLY one 70's building is confirmed complete at this point.

Given past experience - they will not proceed in anything resembling any logical order to the rest of the world.

It should all be done in about 12-16 weeks.

You can ask for a refurbed room at check-in -- but there's no guarantee the CM on the desk will even know which rooms are what...

I find it hilarious that Pop is redone before Movies.

Last year the manager at Movies said it's gonna be difficult to close sections of Movies for refurbishment because of all the big groups. He was hoping this year but apparently Pop got the love.

the pirate rooms got flat panels but the orig rooms didn't

Will be at POP in May for 1st stay. Hope that all refurbishing will be done by then. Love the new blue color deco.

So with these privacy curtains, does the Pack n Play fit behind it?

I hadn't thought about that when we were at Pop, but I'm sure it would. It might need to be longwise towards the bathroom though.
But that sure would give a little one a separate space for bedtime!

Since the curtain attaches to the ceiling in the doorway between the vanity area and the room, it shouldn't effect it.

Love the new curtain to close off the sink, not sure why everyone gets so excited about the flat screens. Drawers will work fine for us. We hang as much as we can and rest is in zip/lock bags so leave most in the suitcases.

Does anyone know whether any other decades of the resort are going to be refurbished in the near future? Also, the photos stated that the refurbished 70s rooms were classified as standard rooms. Does anyone know which part of the 70s section the standard rooms are in?

I called Disney yesterday getting some rates and also a few questions. When I asked about the refurbishment at POP they had no idea what I was talkign about and found nothing about it - is that normal?

Also I am going the end of May - in 14 weeks, so probably all the buildings will be done by then according to what I read here (or close to done). If I request a certain building now, can I change it later? If I change it later do I get pushed back in line and less chance my request will be honored?

I may be mistaken but I believe all Pop rooms received new matresses about a year and a half ago?

I was there when they did replace some mattresses on the first floor of the 60's Baloo building in August of 08 but when I went back in June 09 they did not replace all the rooms because ours in the 80's building was extremely worn out. I asked and was told not all the rooms had them replaced.

Yes the right hand doesn't always know what the left is doing. I trust these boards way more than I trust what a CM tells me. Also the person you talked to may have been at a call center in some other state and doesn't know all that is going one at WDW.

Most likely this is the case. IN any event, I don't believe there is a reservations call center closer than Tampa anymore.. I might be wrong on that.

Lord knows if you were staying AT POP and pressed the FRONT DESK button on your phone you are routed to a call center in nearby Celebration, FL... or something like that.

Last year, a CM told me that "you guys on the boards" find out stuff before we do. I think she was right.
