I paid for the preferred room and was nervous with all the post. But when we arrived we had the perfect room and location. We had room 1115 it was on the ground floor and just around the front of the lobby. The first Bowling pin room I was soooo happy with it.. So yes it is worth paying the extra IMHO:cool1:

When we went just this past Aug. I did not pay for preferred and got a wonderful room. We were in Building 3 on the bottom floor and about a 2 minute walk to the main building. I guess it's just luck of the draw because I've heard of people paying extra for a preferred room and getting a horrible location.

Glad you got a great room!!!

Congrats! Did you find it noisy on the first floor? We just got a regular room and we were pretty close (70's with the 8 tracks, didn't know what it was called).

It must be luck, because we just got back last week, and did not pay for a preferered room, and we LOVED out location. It was close to everything. 70's section 6, 2nd floor.

No we did find it noisy at all, we had a great time..

We paid for a preferred room for our vacation a couple of weeks ago & our room location stunk!! It was in the 60's on the back side. I've already written Disney to see if that room was actually a preferred & if it wasn't I want a refund. Who knows if I'll get it, but the satisfaction of writing the email was worth it. As much as I love POP we might try a moderate next time just to see the difference in everything.:)

:yay: EXCELLENT!!! They have great bus service there and I love their gift shop, couldn't stay out of it

Eeyore's my favorite: the 50's & 60's buildings are preferred you should have said something and asked to be moved. I had heard that some of the rooms in the preferred were father than the others, that's why I didn't pay the extra.

We were so tired after unloading we just crashed & by the time I figured out it wasn't a preferred room I didn't want to go & move again. Guess I'll live & learn, and at least I wasn't stuck in the 90's again like the first time when I really didn't know any better.:cutie:

We paid for a prefered room last time we went. It was a great location. First floor Bowling pin room in between the pool and the main building. It was perfect and worth it. Just a min walk from everything.

You have convinced me to try to switch to a preferred room for our February trip. DD13 is playing in Disney's Field Hockey Showcase and will be exhausted! The room we had at POP in August was on the lake and man it felt like a hike!

Hi we stayed in room 9204, it faced the pool, It was nice until we walked in and smelled SMOKE!! I thought that POP WAS SMOKE FREE!!
We talked to the front desk and they told us they would move us to another room, but we had unpacked 9 suit cases!!:scared1: and to pack up and go to another room would be a nightmare!! . They told me it would be hard to find out who it was because the vents are tied to 16 other rooms!!

Anyway, we had to put up with it for about 2 days, then the smell was gone!:dance3: I don't know if the people left are they cought them!!:sad2:

But my family and I have very bad sinus problems!!:sad2: .

If it was not for the smoke, the room would have been Ok!!

Thank's Kathy:flower3:

What's wrong with the 90's roooms? We're staying at POP for the first time this December and I'm very curious to see how it is.

I just booked at the POP and did a preferred booking. I thought "preferred" meant the building, not the room?...... I thought all 60 and 50 building were preferred?...Now I am confused

When I called I was told certain rooms in certain buildings were preferred. Our room in the 60's was very far away & not what we had requested when we asked for Preferred too. But I'll learn from my mistakes...............

With regards to the question about the 90's ..... for us they were too far away from everything and actually quite a hike to the bus depot or food court. (Unless you wanted to cut through the nice hot parking lot...... ) One night when walking back late at night from the bus we, along with several other couples, actually got lost trying to walk back there to our rooms. So this year we asked for preferred - next time I guess I'll have to be more specific.

Enjoy your stay @ POP!!

We had a room near yours it sounds like, because ours was in the first bowling pin building too. It was up the stairs, (second floor), turn left and it was the first room you came to. Room 1212! It was so close and so great!!! I was nervous that we would have the preferred room next door to the first room considered standard, but we lucked up and got the best room!!

It's so interesting what some of us think is perfect someone else would not like at all! The first time we stayed at POP, right after it opened, we ran into a senior citizen couple (I'm 60 and they had to be late 70's) walking toward the food court (from 50's) and not looking happy.

We greeted one another and they asked about our room - we were in the Jukebox building, back side, but loved the view of the end of the lake and Spaceship Earth - enjoyed the walk through the 50's.

The couple's room was Lady building (1), 1st floor, first room next to the lobby (not facing the pool). They hated the room because it had no view at all - told us they'd be there for 10 nights, so we encourged them to speak with the front desk for a room change. Saw them later and they were very happy with their new room: top floor, Jukebox, pool view!! They liked it so much that we requested that view in 2005 and loved it too!

It is just so great that there is something for everyone!!:thumbsup2

I totally agree. We were at Pop for the first time at the end of August and we were in rooms 1106/1107 (just a few doors down from your room) and we, too, thought the location was perfect. I felt the preferred location was absolutely worth the extra $$

You can call anytime and add a request :) Lots of area that are not preferred are great!

We enjoy a few locations: the 50's Jukebox (2) building pool view, or Tramp (3) IllumiNations views - you could even just make a request of IllumiNations view which is neat. Some 50's and 70's buildings have a view of IllumiNations. Or choose your favorite icons and request a location near those.

Or just ask at check-in :) ...but if it is a busy time and the reosrt is full options may be slim.

We've not had what we'd consider a bad location at POP...yet!! LOL Will not be staying there for a awhile ..taking a POP break and enjoying the deluxes and mods again. :)
