I'm going for a twofer here:

Is there really an advantage to the preferred rooms at Pop? The resort looks small, (akin to POFQ) it appears that all rooms are pretty close to the main hub. I've never stayed at any of the values and so don't have a frame of reference.

Secondly: Do the Boardwalk and Beach Club share pools? I know there are two distinct pools, but was wondering if they allow pool hopping. I know that's not normally the case but since the proximity is so close I thought it might be different than the other hotels policy.

The Boardwalk and Beach Club don't share pools since they are two different resorts.

The only time they allow pool hopping between both resorts is when either one of their main pools are closed for a renovation.

Thank you. I suspected as much but wanted to be sure. Also, might you tell me how long does it take to walk from the BWI to the Beach Club? I'm hoping to use that resort to expand my dining options.

The last time we stayed at POP, we did not get a preferred room. We were pretty far away from everything. If we ever stay there again, we would pay extra for a preferred room.

IMO the POP is pretty big. We have always paid for a preferred room. The BW and BC do not share a pool, however we stayed at BW while they were working on the pool (it was open but not the slide) and they shuttled us over to the YC/BC pool. It is not a long walk but the ride was a nice perk!

Thank you all!
It's my first time at both resorts and I am gathering as much information as I can.
I truly appreciate all the responses.

Well just to mix up the answers a bit. We stayed preferred at Pop and didn't like it. I like quiet and don't mind a five minute walk to the food court. Our preferred room was right in front of the pool and it was pretty loud at night. I'm a light sleeper though so I'm pretty sensitive to noise.

I have heard that complaint before. I booked the preferred rooms only because it's all they had for the FD period. I'd better take some earplugs because we face the Boardwalk and I hear that's noisy at night as well.

Each time I have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn I happen it was with a Boardwalk/Crescent Lake view and honestly it was never noisy at night.

the only nighttime noise i've ever heard was on the other end of the BW, when ppl leave jellyrolls and ADH. our BWI stays were consistantly very quiet. even of our 40ish BWV stays, there have been only 1 or 2 times when we've heard outside noise, but even then, it was shortlived.
enjoy your BW view - it is gorgeous, and unlike any other in the world :cloud9:

We stayed at POP and the walk was long!, not a preferred room.

Stayed at music, the walk wasn't a big deal. However we were next to the parking lot and it was LOUD! Will never stay at a value that is next to the parking lot again. I got no sleep the week we stayed at music.

POP is awesome for many reasons but the walk is not ideal. It is bigger than the other value resorts and more spread out, and is not in the same location as the other Values. The other Values are located close to Animal Kingdom and the walk from rooms to bus stop are not very long, however, depending on where your room is at Pop, you might have a long walk to your bus stop. That's not so bad early in the morning, but when you are getting back after 10 p.m. and you are exhausted, it could be an issue. I love the value resorts because they are clean and comfortable, the food courts serve decent fare, they are Disney themed and priced just right. If you are considering a Value my personal fave is Movies, but my entire family will tell you that Music is the best. If you have sports fanatics in your family you might really enjoy All-Star Sports. But no matter where you say, you are sure to have a magical time!

We’ve stayed at all 3 of the resorts you’ve mentioned. To answer your first question, Pop is not as small as it seems. If you’re lucky to get into the 50s or 60s buildings it’s a fairly close walk to the bus stop, gift shop, cafeteria, etc.

However, if you’re in the 80s or 90s building, or even parts of the 70s building, it can be a hike. We were in the 90s building once and I swear it was at the furthest point of the resort. We never paid for preferred but were lucky enough to land the 50s building 2 out of the 3 times we stayed there. It was a really fun and nostalgic resort!

The Beach Club and Boardwalk don’t share pools. The Beach Club has Stormalong Bay (my favorite pool at WDW) and Boardwalk has a clown themed pool (Luna Park). Each of those resorts also have quiet pools too. They only allow pool hopping if one of the pools is under renovations.
