Pop overnight v. park parking—is what CM telling me sound right?

OP here—always planned on checking in and frankly didn’t even think about using room daily for mid day pool breaks and showering which we normally do anyway in the Sept heat—perfect solution—now just the issue of not being charged for overnight parking when we will not be parking overnight!
So once again, the parking fee is such a small amount of your total i personally wouldn't worry about it. i would just pay that and be grateful for my wonderful opportunity and enjoy my vacation

I see your point about saving money, but this would be way, way too much risk for me. It all depends on Disney's policy on unoccupied rooms, and I have no idea if the current policy is to cancel no-shows. I would absolutely not trust the phone CMs to give you the right answer on that, BTW.

They'll know that the room is not in use because housekeeping or security will be in there every day. I suspect they'll know that your magic bands aren't being used to open the door. Will they let the room sit unused for 11 days without cancelling? I don't know. If they do cancel, you'll lose all of your dining credits and probably your tickets too, as package reservations are non-refundable if not cancelled at least a day before your arrival.

It's a gamble - you risk almost $6000 to save $600. I'd be looking at other ways to save money, if it were me. @KayKayJS 's suggestion is a good one, to get an AP and use that to get free parking. and meal discounts.
Right, no matter what, they can tell there has been no MB activity on the door. Even if you don't have housekeeping and even if they had never implemented a security check they can use MB to check on entry to the room. I wouldn't be surprised, if they have a occupancy policy, to have the managers get a report if a room has not been accessed for a period of days (whatever it is they define). Never assume they don't know, that's for certain.

When you arrive at the resort, tell them you are dropping off. This may or may not be successful as folks have been both charged when they don't have a car and not charged parking even when they do have a car.
Also, I wouldn't worry much about skipping 1 day if you had one where you couldn't get by, I've skipped a night in a room before with no issue. I wouldn't skip all days for sure. As has been pointed out, you may pay to rent the room but they do still own it and if they decided that not having it occupied was against policy then that's their right.
