I'm trying to decide which resort to stay at. I have ressies at POP, but I'm considering switching to POR. To those of you who have stayed at both, which one do you prefer and why?

POR - Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food court. The boys enjoyed the pool and the fishing hole. Plus the boat ride to DTD is an enjoyable ride.

No contest - POR! POR is the most serene, amazing escape from the madness of the parks, and POP just felt a little disconnected from the rest of the World for me.

Go with POR!:thumbsup2

I love Pop, it's a very fun resort. I find being at a "relaxing" resort just doesn't feel like disney. If your DS is going with you he will definitely think Pop is cool.

How many people... Kids? Adults? How long? Can you afford the upgrade? POP is great for kids, or for a cheaper LONGER vacation. I am going to pop, but only cause I am staying 10 nights and couldnt afford that long at a MOD, if it was only 4 days or so, I would go Mod, but i would rather go cheap at the resort and stay longer at a Value...

I've stayed at both and prefer POP over POR. If you are looking for a relaxing time, go with POR. If you are looking for more lively / Disney theming, go with POP. I can't justify the price difference between the two. It is not worth it in my opinion. POR is a lot more walking too which is not what I enjoyed after a day at the parks. The bus system at POP is better. POR bus has 5 stops around the resort. POP is 1 stop. What I liked about POR is you get a fridge & the boat to DTD. What I love about POP is the atmosphere, the decor, the food court, the slushie machines, the bus service, the price..........

POR - I stay at POP only when it is an unplanned trip. Way too much noise!! I much prefer the bus stops at POR - put me in the shade whenever possible. Also the atmosphere at POR is so relaxing...

POR is our fav for a mod and Pop is our fav for value. It depends on how much money we can afford for each trip. We like them both.

POR - Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food court. The boys enjoyed the pool and the fishing hole. Plus the boat ride to DTD is an enjoyable ride.

We're staying at POR this time and I read something about the fishing hole. Anything you can tell me about this?
Thanks!:)

This is funny because I originally booked our ressie at POP, and just called yesterday to switch it to POR. It's just dh and I so from all I've read POR is a little more up our alley.

I think it all depends on your group that's going, how much time do you actually plan on spending at the resort, etc.

POR… If you plan on spending as much time as possible in the parks, then it may be worth saving $$ and stay at POP. If you want to relax and spend time at the resort, then POR.

We are having the same problem. It is just DH and I and we stayed at POP last time and loved it. We are going for 10 nights next year and I 99% sure we are going to try POR. This will probably be our only time staying there because we were very happy at POP but just wanted to give it a try.

I would pick POR for several reasons.
* The bus service seems to be better at mods than values--my opinion based on my experience. Plus, you have a covered bus stop--you are not waiting in the sun/rain.
* The resorts *seem* less noisy as a whole...maybe because they are less spread out.
* DD like the pools and we prefer those at POR--better theming, more shade, more 'quiet' pools that are generally less crowded.
* The beds are slightly bigger at mods.
* The rooms are a bit bigger, have 2 sinks and a bigger dressing area.
* I like the fact that there are more activities you can do AT the resort itself. (Water craft, fishing, etc)
* The option of taking a boat to DTD instead of having to take a bus.

We've stayed at almost all the resorts at WDW and love different ones for different reasons. I love POP because it is fun, which is why I go to WDW in the first place. The decor is fun, the food court is good, and I'm so tired when I get back from the parks I don't care what design is on the bedspread! We've stayed there 9 times.... so far ;)

DH loves POR. He loves that it is relaxing (which is not why I'm at WDW.... I go back to work for that! ). The boatride to DTD is my favorite part of this resort.

Staying at POR and using the bus system is different than at POP. At POP, the bus pulls up to one stop and everyone unloads and loads. There are no more stops to make, nowhere else to be dropped. Nine times out of 10, the bus will be full. At POR, there are 5 stops, but not all buses stop at all stops. When we were there marathon week, we very seldom saw any other bus stops and the buses were not full. Once the bus was pretty full and we made it to all stops.

It really depends on what you want, relaxing or fun. Let that help you decide and you will have a blast!!!

We've stayed at POP twice and loved it. The kids really loved the pool and all of the huge icons. I thought the gift shop, arcade and food court were all very good We were on the 3rd floor over the kiddie pool and had no noise in our room at all. We will be staying at POR next year -- I'm so looking forward to it.

We are going with another family who must have a room that sleeps 5 (they actually have 6 counting the baby). We have 5 as well but my oldest dd will be in a separate room with her friend.

I've stayed at CBR, CSR, ASMo, and POP and loved them all.

I would choose pop. We enjoyed POR but the kids missed the Disney theming (and I guess I did a little too) POR is a beautiful resort but it lacks the disney magic for our family. Pop has the larger than life icons and is pure fun!
