POP or CBC? Is a moderate REALLY worth the price difference?

Last year we stayed at the POFQ. It was nice enough. Nothing fancy. This year I thought I would try to make it less expensive by staying at a value. I am considering POP or CBR. I have been reading posts about moldy showers and "less then accommodating" staff at POP. I will be GROSSED OUT  if the room is anything less then immaculate! The other thing I really liked about POFQ was that the parking lot was outside of our room. We rent a car and keep the strollers in it and carry dd 5 and dd 6mos back to the room instead of housing the strollers in our room. When I looked at the map of POP it seamed like there would be a Good chance of the parking lot being no where near our room. CBR seamed like they have many small lots close to the rooms. Can any one help me out with this? It probably will make my decision for me! :flower3: I know it seems silly but having your car right there is a huge help when you are walking all over "The World" all day!!! I guess my question boils down to "Do you think it is worth the price difference?" POP or CBR??????

This is just one person's opinion here, FWIW, but I've stayed at both CBR and ASM. (CBR was our honeymoon in '01 and ASM was our 5th anniversary in '06.) I just was not thrilled with the value resort. I LOVED CBR! The price difference is definitely worth it. Our main reason for joining DVC was because I never wanted to stay in a value resort ever again. Don't get me wrong, our actual room was great, but that was it. There really wasn't any ambience, and I was not crazy about the food court.

Got to agree with JenSop. We stayed one night at AS Sport and our room was so far away from the parking. Have stayed at CBR and POR and think the mod's fit more with us. Parking was close at both mod's and it just seemed more 'Disney' to us.

I agree, the small price savings does not match up with what you give up when you stay at a value. I think other than DVC, POR is my favorite resort, in terms of cost and beauty.

I have only stayed at POP and absolutely LOVED it. I never heard the moldy shower thing before and ours was fine.:confused3 But I think from the sounds of things you would prefer CBR. I would give it a try too once my child is older, but she is only 2 and we love the Value theming. You can ask for rooms close to the parking lot, but not guarenteed. I ahve heard you really do NOT gain much by staying at the Mod's but I guess it depends on the person and what they like/need.

I'm sure there's not a hotel in the USA that hasn't had a complaint like this. The Waldorf Astoria in New York. The Drake Hotel in Chicago. The Palace Hotel in San Francisco. They've all had their share of dirty rooms and surly staff ... it just happens (one inattentive housekeeper combined with one inattentive supervisor can spell disaster, but that disaster is usually very local and not indicative of every floor or every building of that hotel).

What you don't read about those places and the WDW resorts is the millions and millions of people who had a great time and have nothing to post about because they have nothing to complain about. Let me put it this way ... we never see threads with titles like "Housekeeping did an adequate job at POFQ" or "My room at Pop was clean." We don't start such threads because it's not news when things go right. It's just like TV news. Except for quirky slice-of-life human interest stories, there are no stories like "There was NOT a fire at K-Mart today" or "For the 677th consecutive day, the Chase Bank branch was not robbed."

In other words, don't let a few rogue posts make you think that you are booked in a dirty room.

It all depends on your exact room. Not the village, but the exact room itself. There are lots of rooms that are very near a parking lot, and lots of rooms that could be a little bit of a hike to a parking lot. Put a request on your reservation to be near a parking lot, and request the same when you check in. Paying for a preferred location room will have no impact on this good or bad. Paying for a water view room will have a negative impact on this, as they would tend to be the farthest from parking lots.

I guess my question boils down to "Do you think it is worth the price difference?" POP or CBR??????
My personal opinion ... If I'm staying with 4 people, I'd pay extra to stay in a 340 sq. ft. room over a 260 sq. ft. room any day.
