I'm hoping I didn't mess things up, I'm going in several days and asked for a room away from the elevator as I was hoping it to be a little quieter away from one. I'm hoping that doesn't mean they will put us in a ground floor room.

I've heard people say they are smoking rooms and are noisy. I asked for non-smoking.

Can anyone tell me if they ever had this request and where they ended up? Also how are the ground floor rooms just in case?

I'm supposed to be in a preferred room.

THANKS

I have stayed at POP three times now, and never in a preferred room. Once I was in the 50's section, bldg 2, on the third floor, way to the rear of the bldg. Very quiet. Next time it was 50's again, but bldg 1, ground level, rear of the bldg. Again, very quiet. Third time, 80's section, ground level room, facing the lake/parking lot. It was quiet again. And none of them were smoking rooms. I can't say what will be the case for a preferred room though.
I wouldn't be concerned.

Our first trip to WDW in 2005 we stayed at POP 70's section building 6 on the first floor near the lake (non smoking). It was very nice and quiet too. We enjoyed it so much we are staying at POP again this year. Didn't make any special requests just hoping for the same good luck we had last time.

We've stayed at Pop 3 times (preferred rooms) and one of those times was a ground room away from the elevators. It was quiet and peaceful. I'm quessing that the ground rooms facing the pool are the loudest, and some of those happen to also be handicapped rooms. If you're not satisfied, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to find something suitable.

I think if you request a lake view, or simply a view away from the pools you'll be fine. It gets dramatically quieter on the back sides of the buildings. Your only real noise worry is kids running around outside. Any room on the property is prone to that.

Say....maybe they should have an adults only section at a few of the resorts !! :yay:

We didn't have preferred, but ended up with a ground floor room. I was worried about it, but it turned out to be great. It was easier to run to the pool or even just to get our stroller in and out.

Have a great trip!

We have stayed at POP three times now and all three times requested and got ground floor. We don't care to be higher, just more walking involved. Our rooms haven't been anymore noisy that the higher rooms that we have stayed at in other resorts. People walk by your room regardless.

The noisiest resort we have stayed at was Beach Club, which was unreal! So I wouldn't worry too much about that, unless you are in a room right at the pool!

And non of our rooms were smoking rooms. Not sure how they have that set up.

We just got back from POP on tuesday. I always request a standard, non-smoking, ground floor room in the 70's building, and luckily my request has always been granted.

I hate stairs and hate to wait for a elevator, so the ground floor is definately a plus to me. We are usually put on the parking lot side of the building so we don't have that much noise on the outside of the room, personally I found more noise coming from the walls from people flushing toliets then outside noise.

We always get a ground floor room at any of the resorts we stay at. At POP (our first time there) we were in the preferred 60's section w/ a view of the lake and it was very quiet. The elevators were just around the corner, but we never heard any noise from them unless walking past them ourselves. Our ground floor rooms have always been non-smoking. I think you should be pleased. ;)
