I'm just looking at the Pop food court menu on AllEars, and have a few questions about some items!

Maybe somebody who's been there recently can help me? :cheer2:

* Is the chicken curry flatbread a spicy curry? I hope so!

* What's a Sloppy Joe? :confused3

* Can you only get the fried chicken on Monday's, with the "Mom's Night Out" special?

* Do you have to be a Mom to get the "Mom's Night Out" special?

That's all, for now!! Feel free to tell me your favourite thing to eat at Pop, too! :banana:

And if there's any photos, they're always good too!!

Thanks everybody!! :Pinkbounc

* What's a Sloppy Joe?

A sloppy joe is a sandwich (on a bun) made of broken up (crumbled) hamburger with a tomato based sauce normally with green peppers and onions. I have never had the ones at POP so I can't tell you if theirs are good, but in general sloppy joes can be good.

It is offered Saturday, Sunday and Monday (according to allears) and No you do not have to be a mom to order it. It is called Mom's Night Out because it is served in a foil tray to be like a TV dinner and when TV dinners first were offered for sale, they were advertised as a replacement for Mom's home cooking and that dad's could serve them to their children so mom could have a break and a night out.

Most of the food we ate at the POP food court was pretty good. Just remember it is basically counter service food and not guaranteed to be special. I did have the mom's night out chicken and it was pretty good. The mashed potatos were good.

I had low expectations when we stayed at the Pop. We had recently stayed at the Contemporary and the POR and I knew that the Pop was considered a value resort. I can't tell you how impressed I was with the Pop Century Resort. Disney got it right on this. Plenty of pools and kid play areas, lots of food choices at Everything Pop and great access to towels. The room was thought out and provided everything one would need. The only thing I can say bad---I think the beds would be too small for a family traveling with grown kids. We are looking forward to our next visit at the Pop in September.

We had the sloppy joes and they were yummy! They even put a slice of cheese on them. We also had the fried chicken which I still crave, lol. We were pleasantly surprised that everything we had at Pop's food court exceeded our expectations.

The chicken curry flatbread is tasty, but I didn't think it was particularly spicy. It was more of a chicken salad filling made with mayonnaise flavored with curry powder. I haven't had it in a while, but I think I remember either apples or grapes being in the chicken salad mixture, too. Yum!

I had the Beef Bean and Bleu flatbread and it was great! The Chicken Curry flatbread looked good, too, but as a previous poster mentioned, it looked like more of chicken salad.

I think "curry" has a different connotation in other countries -- e.g. - spicy Indian, Pakistani or Thai seasonings. Here in the States curry often refers to a standard seasoning that's a bit reminiscnent of Indian flavors, but is not that spicy. (Of course, that's not to say that we don't have some great Aisan restaurants that serve "real" curry -- just had a great Thai green curry at lunch today. :))

We stayed at POP last August and we really enjoyed the food there. We actually ate there many evenings before we headed back out to the parks. The fried chicken was yummy. I had this HUGE bowl of a noodle dish too. It was like chicken noodle soup without the soup. There were many things we did not try like the ice cream counter or the desserts because DD is diabetic and we dont eat very many sweets. It all looked very good though. I was trying to figure out how to sneak a twinkie tiramisu back to the room..lol.
I really liked POP. I picked it because we were on a budget but we have stayed at AKL, Poly, Contemporary before. I did not feel like I had given up anything by staying here. It is well themed, well laid out, and has a lot of nice amenities. We will be returning there in August. I thought about staying someplace else but when I asked DD she said " the place with the hippie pool" .
Have a great trip!

I ate at POP twice on our trip, on arrival night for dinner and lunch for departure day. I thought the food tasted fine as I had the chicken parmesan with penne alfredo and the meatball sub for my two meals. I could have easily eaten there more without a problem, but I tour commando style, so I was never at POP except early in the AM and after the day is over. I loved the refillable mug there though. It was great to fill it up every morning and night. I thought the POP food court was very good and would stay there again.

:rose: :disrocks: Can anyone tell me how BIG the portions are? I've heard they arebig . We have big eaters and I was just wondering if we could stretch the dining plan by sharing at Counter service in the park or at Pop?

It has a lot of curry in it. But it is not spicy as in flame your mouth spicy. It's mildly spiced. It was very good as it is.

We found most of them to be pretty big. My Dd would get chicken strips and it was way more than she could eat. Her and I could have shared the meal if we added a dessert but I hate chicken strips. They always came with a huge mound of fries and 3-4 big strips. Some of the other things like sandwiches may be hard to share. They had some pretty big pasta dishes that you could share for sure and I remember like a 7 inch pizza that you could share.

Other folks have answered the curry question... I just have to add that the flatbread station is hands down my favorite food-courtish option anywhere on property. Mmmm... (grilled veggie flatbread fan, myself.)
