Not planning on requesting a building ahead of time. Do they tell you what buildings are available, or do they just assign you? Also, curious about bus travel time to the MK...

I have been to Pop twice and I always paid extra for a preferred room and always requested a pool view. When I checked in they just assigned a room. Both times my request for a pool view was honored. On both visits, the CMs I dealt with were newly hired trainees with a supervisor training them, but I think if I would have asked for a few options they would have been accomodating.

The Magic Kingdom is the longest ride from Pop. It takes about 20 minutes.

By the way, for a value, this resort is great.

They usually just put you in a room--they don't give you options unless you ask specifically what they have available.

when you get there you can ask if their is a room in the building or section you would like to be in..they have always been very accomodating to us..we got a preferred room the first time..and we havent after that..cause well the walk is not bad...and as long as your in the 60s or 70s area..or 50s for that matter you are close to the buses and food..and all...

Just my hubby and I. I am pretty sure we are going to want 4th floor if available no matter what building. We dont mind a walk, and we are both children of the 70's, however the 50's theming is appealing also.

We had requests granted at the time of check in. I didn't want to list too many on my reservation, so I asked for a lake view when we arrived and we were given a lake view, along with the requests that were on my ressie. Actually we ended up getting a room earlier that way - the room they initially booked us into wasn't going to be ready until 3 pm but when I asked for a lake view in the same building and floor as requested, there was one available and it was ready at the time (11:30).

We stayed at POP last Oct. in the '60s building - we didn't have any other requests. Buses are usually crowded (especially in early morning and especially especially for the early-opening park o' de day & at park closing).

It was a good stay - the bellhops were very helpful, the lobby is an interesting place to hang out, the pools are good (at least the Hippy-Dippy Pool I experienced), the Generation Gap Bridge is OK, the arcade is good, the food court is good (great food at a decent value), the shop is OK (I don't like shopping so I'm not the best judge in that regard).

I have a construction project in N. Orlando that I had to check on during our stay and getting out of the park-to the car-and out of WDW wasn't as bad as I had feared (it took about an hour total from when I left the family at Studios to when I hit the Interstate).

We were just at POP from 9/15 - 9/21, and we did not request anything in advance. I did ask for a king bed when we checked in, and were told none were available. However, she then showed us a map of the resort and asked if there were any section we wanted to stay in. We ended up in the 50s, Building 1, 4th Floor - although it overlooked the parking lot, we had a perfect view of the Epcot sphere as soon as we stepped out the door. It was very quiet there too.
